How long does Medicaid review really take for a GAPP request? Usually about 30 to 60 days.
That's the honest answer, and I'll give you the qualifier in the same breath: it's a range we typically observe, not a published standard and not a guarantee.
Three things worth knowing while you're in it:
The clock starts when your agency files the request, not when you filled out an intake form.
A written determination is mailed to your family. Watch the mail, not your email.
Documentation requests can pause the review mid-process, which is why a complete file matters.
Most of the anxiety in this stage comes from not knowing whether the silence means something. It usually doesn't. Review takes as long as review takes, and no agency controls that window.
If you're past 60 days and haven't heard anything, that's worth a phone call.
