The last few days of school should honestly come with a warning label for parents. 😂😂
Nothing tests a parent’s resilience quite like an end-of-school-year themed clothing request with less than 24 hours notice.…
Yesterday I got approximately 24 hours notice that my child needed a purple shirt for Field Day.
Did I check ? Yes.
Did I check multiple stores? Also yes.
Did I look to see if could get it to me with same day delivery? Of course.
Did I briefly consider giving up? No, but I should probably have.
But somewhere between sports schedules, staff appreciation, snack requests, end-of-year emails, and trying to remember if I am chaperoning a field trip… I remembered an important parenting self-care skill:
Lower the bar creatively. Lower it a lot.
So instead of driving all over Atlanta searching for a purple shirt… I made one.
And honestly?
“This Is My Purple Shirt” might be the most emotionally accurate parenting uniform I’ve seen all school year.
Self-care as a parent doesn’t always look the way you think it will. It is:
✨ choosing “good enough”
✨ laughing instead of spiraling
✨ and realizing your kids will probably remember the fun of it more than whether the shirt matched perfectly
To all the parents surviving the final 9 days of school:
I see you. We’re almost there. 💜
