Core Skills Advanced Training is a series of modules aimed to develop your skills as an Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist. Within a safe, supportive community, Core Skills participants engage in in-depth learning of the EFCT model, building skills and growing in confidence as emotionally focused therapists.

This small group experience consists of a series of 3 workshops.  Through didactic instruction, experiential exercises and case presentations, all aspects of the EFT process are covered. The first two workshops are dedicated to specific steps of the model and the therapeutic tasks and interventions characteristic of those steps. The 3rd workshop is dedicated to receiving supervision of your EFCT work with a couple.  The direct supervision you receive during this event will count toward EFCT Certification.

The size of each Core Skills cohort is limited to allow for hands-on, individualized guidance from the EFT Trainer and supporting Training Team members and to encourage participants to form lasting connections with each other as they deepen their understanding of the model.

Registration is for the entire Core Skills Series.
Training dates are:
June 4-6, 2026: Modules 1 & 2 Assessment & Cycle De-escalation
September 24-26, 2026: Modules 3 & 4 Withdrawer Re-engagement &  Pursuer Softening
October 16-17, 2026:  Module 5 Supervision with ICEEFT Approved EFCT Supervisors, Jena Irvin & Michael Preston.

Each training day begins at 8:30am and ends at 5:30pm. (Participants will receive a detailed schedule prior to the first module.) 48 CEs are available for completion of the entire series.

Core Skills Advanced Training requires that participants have completed the EFT Externship. This training is appropriate for all licensed mental health providers including Psychologists, Social Workers, Professional Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists as well as students in those disciplines.

Join us for a special live Zoom session where participants will have the opportunity to observe Certified EFT Supervisor Michael Preston as he works with a Stage 1 couple using Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. This is a unique chance to watch EFT in action and see the EFT Tango applied moment-by-moment in real clinical work.

The live session with the couple will run from 10:00–11:00am, followed by a Q&A and debrief from 11:00am–12:00pm, where Michael will reflect on the process and answer participant questions.

This event is ideal for therapists who want to deepen their understanding of EFT, strengthen their attunement skills, and observe the flow of the model in real time.

Please join us as ICEEFT certified Therapist and Supervisor, Ellen Marmon, presents on this important topic. We’ll be talking about how to tune into your own internal responses and how to use this embodied awareness to attune to your clients and inform your next therapeutic move.
We’ll discuss when these body responses are telling us we need to ask for support. We look forward to seeing you on August 8th at 10:00am EDT!
