Dad came to Chicago for a conference.

The kids came for an adventure.

Between the skyline views, the excitement on the riverboat, and hearing their endless questions about the city, I was reminded that some of the best moments happen when we simply slow down and experience life through our children's eyes.

As a physician, my days are often filled with schedules, responsibilities, and caring for others.

As a mom, moments like these refill my cup.

Chicago was beautiful, but seeing it through my children's eyes made it unforgettable. ❤️

Though corporate bosses may value work-life balance, recognizing that family moments are fleeting…

that doesn’t mean they will support you 😬
That’s one of the reasons that led me to opening my practice and owning my time.

Would you want your kids saying “Mom/Dad worked all the time”?

Another test of resilience- Hurricane Ida 🌀

I’ve rehearsed (in my mind) what items I’d take if I had to evacuate from my home. After living in NOLA for 1 year, this was far from fantasy.

I’d bring my purses👜, which collectively, could feed an entire village for a year 🤦🏾‍♀️
I’d bring my jewelry 💍 for sentimental value.
And of course, my ride or die🚘. My baby. My Benz! Given that I won’t be trekking🚷

When life hit!
It was “grab whatever can fit and let’s hit the road NOW!”
No rehearsal! Some purses made it. Some jewelry. And the car definitely did not make it!

“Why didn’t you drive behind your husband” “How could you leave your car” People asked.

⚡️Maybe because I was at peace🕊

I knew my God would protect my property. My car, my house, my job and whatever left behind that was dear to me.

⚡️But Even if He didn’t that’d be FINE with me because our relationship is WAY BEYOND physical things.

I’m Grateful that leaving was an option!

I’m Grateful to be part of this resilient city that God is about to restore just like He did 16 years ago. I ❤️ you NOLA!
