Self-care isn't selfishโ€”it's an important part of living well with arthritis and autoimmune disease.

Living with arthritis or an autoimmune disease means self-care is more than an occasional treatโ€”it's an important part of managing your health.

This year's International Self-Care Day theme, "Self-Care at the Forefront of Prevention," reminds us that the choices we make each day can support our overall health and complement the care we receive from our rheumatology team.

As you head into the weekend, consider making time to:

โœจ Move your body with gentle exercise or stretching.
๐Ÿ’ง Stay hydrated.
๐Ÿฅ— Eat nourishing foods.
๐Ÿ˜ด Prioritize quality sleep.
๐Ÿง˜ Practice stress through mindfulness, prayer, meditation, or deep breathing.
๐Ÿ’Š Take medications as prescribed.
โค๏ธ Listen to your body and allow yourself to rest when needed.

Self-care doesn't replace your treatment planโ€”it works alongside it. Small, consistent habits can make a meaningful difference in supporting your health and well-being.

This weekend is the perfect opportunity to reset, recharge, and take one small step toward caring for yourself.

Wishing you a healthy, restful weekend from all of us at Arthritis and Rheumatology of Georgia.

Sjรถgren's disease is one of the most common autoimmune rheumatic diseases, yet it remains widely misunderstood.

While many people associate Sjรถgren's with dry eyes and dry mouth, it is much more than that. Sjรถgren's is a serious, systemic autoimmune disease that can affect the joints, lungs, kidneys, nerves, and other organs, impacting nearly every aspect of daily life. Early recognition and treatment can help improve quality of life and reduce the risk of complications.

Today, we join the Sjรถgren's Foundation in raising awareness, supporting those living with Sjรถgren's disease, and encouraging conversations that lead to earlier diagnosis and better understanding.

As Menโ€™s Health Month draws to a close today, we are highlighting an important topic that is often brushed aside: recurrent gout flares.

Gout is more than occasional joint pain. Repeated flares may be a sign that uric acid levels are not well controlled, and over time, untreated gout can become more frequent, painful, and damaging to the joints.

Visit our latest blog to learn why recurring gout symptoms should not be ignored and when it may be time to see a rheumatologist: argmd.net/gout-and-mens-health/

Today, we recognize World Scleroderma Day and stand with patients, families, caregivers, and advocates raising awareness for this rare autoimmune disease.

Scleroderma can affect the skin, blood vessels, joints, and internal organs, and symptoms may vary widely from person to person. Greater awareness helps support earlier recognition, timely evaluation, and compassionate care for those living with this complex condition.

At Arthritis and Rheumatology of Georgia, we support continued education, understanding, and research for patients affected by scleroderma and other autoimmune diseases.
