Parents often ask: “When should I be concerned about my child’s weight?”

Sometimes the answer isn’t obvious—and you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Consider talking with your child’s pediatrician or an obesity medicine specialist if you’re noticing rapid or concerning weight changes, weight-related health concerns, or if your child has risk factors such as a strong family history of diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease.

And remember: for children, we don’t evaluate weight using adult BMI cutoffs. Growth, age, s*x, BMI percentile, medical history, development, and the child’s overall health all matter.

Getting help early isn’t about putting a child “on a diet.”

It’s about understanding what’s happening and giving your child the tools and support they need to thrive. 💛

Childhood obesity is more common than many families realize.

According to the CDC, approximately 1 in 5 U.S. children and adolescents has obesity.

And this isn’t simply about eating too much or exercising too little.

Obesity is a chronic, complex disease, and children with obesity may have an increased risk of conditions including high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, fatty liver disease, and joint problems.

The good news? Early intervention matters.

We can identify risks early, support healthier habits, and work with families to develop a plan that makes sense for their child.

No blame. No shame. Just support. 💙

September is Childhood Obesity Awareness Month 💙💛

At Weight A Minute Clinic, we believe healthy kids aren’t defined by a number on the scale.

Childhood obesity is a complex medical condition influenced by genetics, environment, sleep, nutrition, medications, activity, access to healthy foods, and more.

This month, we’re talking about what parents can actually do—without shame, extreme diets, or making kids afraid of food.

Small changes today can help build healthier futures tomorrow.

💙 Healthy habits
💛 Healthy relationships with food
💙 Support for the whole family

Because our kids deserve care that helps them grow, thrive, and feel good in their bodies.

What’s REALLY fueling the pain, fatigue, inflammation and weight gain? 💙💛

For Panel Three of Whole. Well. & Worthy., we brought together experts from medicine, obesity care, and fitness to look at the bigger picture.

Because sometimes the answer isn’t simply “eat less and exercise more.”

Kendra Roundtree, Dr. Nicole Peoples, and Da’Andrea Thornton joined us for a powerful conversation exploring the connections between chronic stress, inflammation, cortisol, hormones, nutrition, movement, chronic disease, and weight.

And one of the biggest takeaways? Our bodies don’t exist in silos.

Sleep can affect stress.
Stress can affect eating behaviors.
Movement can affect mobility, strength, and metabolic health.
Nutrition matters. Hormones matter. Mental well-being matters.
And sustainable health requires us to look at the whole person.

This is exactly the kind of conversation we wanted to create at Whole. Well. & Worthy.—taking complicated health topics, bringing trusted experts to the table, and giving women practical information they can actually use.

A huge THANK YOU to our panelists for sharing their expertise, answering questions, and reminding us that better health isn’t about perfection—it’s about understanding your body and having the right tools and support to care for it.

“Nobody warned us about THIS!” 💙💛

And judging by the conversations happening in the room, we definitely weren’t the only ones who felt that way. 🙌🏾

Panel Two at Whole. Well. & Worthy. created space for the conversations so many women are having with their girlfriends, Googling late at night, or wondering quietly to themselves:

Why am I suddenly hot? Why can’t I sleep? Why is my mood different? Why is my body changing? And why is managing my weight suddenly so much harder?

Dr. Amber Glenn and Erica Harry, LMFT-S, CST brought the REAL TALK as we explored menopause and perimenopause, hormones, metabolism, mood, stress, mental health, weight changes, s*xual wellness, and so many of the changes women experience during this season of life.

No embarrassment. No judgment. No pretending these things aren’t happening.

Just real questions, expert answers, plenty of laughter, and women realizing, “Wait…so it’s NOT just me?!” 💛

This is exactly why Weight A Minute Clinic created Whole. Well. & Worthy.—to give women the time and space to talk about the parts of their health that don’t always fit neatly into a traditional doctor’s visit.

A huge THANK YOU to Dr. Amber Glenn and Erica Harry for bringing your expertise, honesty, humor, and energy to this conversation.

Real talk. Real answers. Real solutions.

Looking in the Mirror: Navigating Body Changes, Confidence & Aging 💙💛

Some of the most important conversations in women’s health are the ones we don’t always get enough time—or feel comfortable enough—to have.

At Whole. Well. & Worthy., Dr. Ruth Celestin and Dr. Alexcis Ford joined us for an honest, informative conversation about the changes women experience as we move through different stages of life.

From body changes and confidence to pelvic health, vaginal wellness, prolapse, and surgical and non-surgical options, this panel created space for women to ask real questions and hear directly from experts who care for women every day.

One of our biggest goals with Whole. Well. & Worthy. is to normalize these conversations. Women should know what’s happening with their bodies, understand their options, and feel empowered to advocate for the care they deserve.

A huge thank you to Dr. Ruth Celestin, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon, and Dr. Alexcis Ford, Urogynecologist, for sharing their expertise, answering questions, and helping us create a space where women could feel informed, seen, and supported.

Real conversations. Expert insight. Empowered women. 💙💛

Because your health can’t wait.
