For years, Patrick Bellamy lived with kidney disease, but by late 2025 his condition had progressed to kidney failure, making even simple daily activities difficult. Following nearly two years on dialysis, he learned he urgently needed a kidney transplant. Through the living donor screening process, Patrick's sister, Ashley, was found to be a match and donated her kidney, giving her brother a second chance at life.

Today, Patrick is recovering well and has returned to a healthier, more active life. Their story highlights the powerful impact of living organ donation and the extraordinary differences donors can make.

At Emory Healthcare, the No. 1 kidney transplant and living donor program in the U.S. by volume, Patrick received advanced transplant care from our nationally recognized team, which combines expertise, innovation and compassion to help patients achieve better outcomes.

Today, we joined first responders from across Georgia in remembering and honoring the lives lost on September 11. As hundreds climbed Stone Mountain, observed a moment of silence and raised the American flag, we paused together in reflection, gratitude and remembrance.

We honor the courage, sacrifice and service of those who answered the call that day and those who continue to serve our communities every day.

Congrats to Bobbi Stewart, Charge Nurse in our Cardiovascular Care Unit, who is our most recent winner of a DAISY Award! A patient nominated her with these touching words:

"A characteristic of a good nurse is one that shows empathy to each patient, making a true effort to put themselves in their patients shoes. Nurse Bobbi is exactly that. The ICU is undoubtedly the most challenging floor to work on and it takes a dedicated and passionate person to do the job and do it as selflessly as Nurse Bobbi. I met her when I was brought in for a procedure to remove a blood clot that nearly took my life. Unable to do anything for myself, embarrassed and alone with absolutely no family around, nurse Bobbi was there. She showed up as a friend, a professional and a sister. I felt seen, heard and understood."
