Last month, the Atlanta IPhO Chapters Conference 2026 brought together student pharmacists from Mercer University and the University of Georgia in a collaborative effort to strengthen connections between pharmacy education and the pharmaceutical industry.
Organized by Brittinee Meriweather, Halima Soumare, and Michael Lim, the conference highlighted diverse career pathways in industry pharmacy while expanding awareness of professional opportunities across Georgia and beyond.

The program featured discussions on key functional areas within the pharmaceutical industry, while also serving as a valuable platform for networking among students, alumni, and industry professionals.

We extend our sincere gratitude to keynote speaker Dr. Wade Smith for opening the ceremony and setting the tone for the event, as well as to all speakers for sharing their expertise, engaging with students, and offering meaningful insights throughout the sessions.

Meet the Mercer VIP Case Competition Team ✨
This year’s project focused on developing a comprehensive drug development strategy for a novel anti-TL1A therapy for moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis.
From IND strategy and clinical trial design to regulatory planning, medical affairs, commercialization, and patient advocacy, the team built a full bench-to-bedside development plan highlighting the value of industry pharmacists.

Mercer IPhO collaborated with Galt pharmaceuticals to do Naloxone Education at Kroger Pharmacy on Wednesday, March 18th, 2026! This was possible with the help of Galt's current extern, Allison Oteju, and Galt's current fellow Dr. Logan Anderson.

It was a wonderful opportunity to educate patients on how to safely use Naloxone (Narcan nasal spray) in case of an opioid overdose.

This was a 4-hour long service learning event.
