Despite how often the term “OCD” is used casually, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is a complex mental health condition that affects millions of children and adults.

OCD is more than wanting things clean, organized, or done a certain way. It can involve intrusive, unwanted thoughts and repetitive behaviors or mental rituals that significantly impact daily life.

Unfortunately, misconceptions about OCD can make it harder for individuals to recognize their symptoms, seek support, and receive an accurate diagnosis.

The good news? OCD is treatable, and effective, evidence-based support is available. 💙

We're helping break the stigma, challenge misconceptions, and remind those living with OCD that they deserve to be understood and supported.

Our emotions are constantly giving us information, but that doesn’t mean we have to act on every feeling that comes up.

Our emotions can help us understand what we need, what matters to us, and what may need our attention.

Instead of asking “How do I get rid of this feeling?@, try asking “what might this feeling be trying to tell me?”

Sometimes, curiosity is the first step toward understanding ourselves a little better 🤍

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

Breast cancer impacts more than the body. A diagnosis, treatment, recovery, or supporting someone you love can bring fear, uncertainty, grief, changes in self-image, relationship stress, and so many emotions that don’t always get talked about.

This month, as we raise awareness for breast cancer, we also want to make space for the mental and emotional health of those affected by it.

To those navigating a diagnosis, those in treatment or recovery, caregivers, loved ones, survivors, and those remembering someone they’ve lost — your emotional well-being matters, too. 💗

At Ellie Mental Health – Smyrna/Vinings, we believe caring for your mental health is an important part of caring for the whole person.

This October, let’s make room for awareness, support, and compassion; for both the visible and invisible parts of the journey. 🎀

✨Meet Leah ✨

Leah is one of our wonderful therapists at Ellie Mental Health – Smyrna/Vinings and especially enjoys working with adolescents and teens as they navigate all the changes, challenges, and big emotions that come with growing up.

She works to create a space where young people can feel comfortable being themselves, feel heard without judgment, and build the skills and confidence they need to better understand themselves and their emotions.

We’re so happy to have Leah as part of our Ellie fam! 🐘💙

As Su***de Prevention Awareness Month comes to a close, the conversation doesn’t have to.

Checking in on the people we love, making space for honest conversations, learning the warning signs, and reminding someone they aren’t alone matter all year long.

We’re grateful for every person who shared a resource, checked in on a friend, told their story, asked for help, or simply chose to keep going this month. 🩵

September may be ending, but we’ll keep showing up; for the conversations, the connection, and the hope that continues beyond this month.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.
