Rolling into clinical practice! ♿️⚡️
Our Emory DPT students took a trip to Atlanta’s Shepherd Center, a top-ranked rehabilitation hospital for complex neurological and spinal cord injuries.

We took to the wheelchairs to learn the mechanics of:
🔹 Efficient wheelchair propulsion
🔹 Finding the balance point for a static wheelie
🔹 Clearing door thresholds and navigating curbs

Most importantly, they didn’t just learn how to do it, they learned the precise biomechanics of how to safely assist, spot, and guard patients during these high-level skills.

We are looking for infants and young children (up to 6 years old) to participate in this valuable learning experience for our Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students, and we would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word. If you have a child who may be interested in participating, or if you know friends, family members, coworkers, or community members with young children, please consider sharing this opportunity with them.

Participation in the Development Lab allows DPT students to engage with children, observe and evaluate gross motor skills, and provide recommendations to support continued development. Experienced clinicians will be present to supervise and support the students.
