Mini vs. Full Tummy Tuck: What is the real difference?

It is one of the most common questions we hear during consultations. As double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Wright Jones explains, the answer comes down to your unique anatomy.

"Mini tummy tucks are for mini people."
A mini abdominoplasty is designed for patients with a minimal amount of excess skin, fat, and muscle separation. In a mini procedure, all of the tightening and contouring happens exclusively below the belly button.

A standard (or full) tummy tuck, on the other hand, allows for comprehensive sculpting. This includes full muscle repair from the chest (xiphoid process) all the way down to the p***c area, creating that flat, tight, seamlessly refined contour.

If you have an overhanging skin flap, a mini procedure simply won't give you the transformative results you deserve.
