Dating someone with a mental health diagnosis means loving them with compassion, patience, and understanding, not making yourself responsible for saving or healing them.

Support is healthy. Self-abandonment is not.
You can hold space for someone without carrying the weight of their healing on your back.

Their triggers, trauma, and emotional work are theirs to actively take responsibility for. Your role is to be a partner, not a therapist, caretaker, or emotional punching bag.

Healthy love looks like:

• accountability
• communication
• emotional safety
• boundaries
• mutual effort
• support without enabling

You deserve a relationship where care flows both ways. 🤍

Sometimes your thoughts are not yours.

They’re your parents. Your peers. And things that stick with you through life in this society.

Just because you think something doesn’t not mean it’s true.

If you overthink, think negatively, or self sabotage you have to be able to do something called “fact checking”

Ask yourself what facts you have to support the thought. Is this my anxiety, or do I have legit facts? Is this me self sabotaging, or am I just afraid to try something new?

Sometimes yall don’t want to hear this, but the thought process needs a little tweaking. A little reframe. A different perspective. This is a great reason to try therapy!

Sometimes what looks like “laziness” is actually a nervous system in overload.

Your body isn’t always refusing to move because you don’t care. Sometimes it’s exhausted from constantly surviving, overthinking, people pleasing, staying in survival mode, and carrying stress that was never processed.

Signs your nervous system may be overloaded:

• Feeling tired no matter how much you sleep
• Procrastinating simple tasks
• Irritability or emotional numbness
• Brain fog and difficulty focusing
• Wanting to isolate from everyone
• Constant anxiety or feeling “on edge”
• Shutting down when overwhelmed
• Feeling unmotivated but mentally exhausted
• Trouble relaxing even during rest
• Crying easily or feeling emotionally reactive

Rest is not a character flaw.
Slowing down is not failure.

Your nervous system may just be asking for safety, softness, and support.

Before judging yourself, ask:

“Am I lazy… or am I overwhelmed?”

Healing isn’t just learning how to push harder. Sometimes it’s learning how to finally feel safe enough to rest. ✨
