Back To School season is officially here!

But if you are raising a child with ADHD, Autism, or classroom behavioral challenges, this time of year often brings more anxiety than excitement.

You shouldn't have to fight the school alone to ensure your child succeeds.

As a Child and Adolescent Behavioral Consultant, I am opening up a few private consultation slots this week and next week for a Back To School Behavioral Intensive.

Being a Juvenile is not a get out of jail free card.

Too many families operate under the dangerous illusion
that being under 18 guarantees leniency.

There is a deeply ingrained myth that a mistake made as a teenager will just result in a slap on the wrist or a brief stint in juvenile detention.

The system does not work that way.

Most parents and their sons have never heard of the "Seven Deadly Sins" law—legislation that allows children to be stripped of their juvenile status and aggressively tried as adults.

They don't realize that the protective shield of childhood disappears the second a prosecutor decides to make an example out of a young Black boy.

The devastating shock hits when a mother is standing in a courtroom, realizing her child is facing adult prison time.

That shock turns to despair when she is hit with the crushing reality of exorbitant legal fees she simply cannot afford in a desperate attempt to keep her son out of a concrete cage.

This is the harsh, unforgiving reality of the school-to-prison pipeline.

Because of one bad decision, a lack of proactive guidance, or a system literally designed to trap them, some of our brilliant Black boys will be sitting in an adult prison cell on the exact day they were supposed to be walking across a stage to receive their high school diploma.

We cannot wait until the handcuffs click to intervene.

We must build their armor now.

While most of the world is checking out for summer vacation,
more than 300 parents, educators, and leaders just locked in to
do the real work during the summer break.

Why are we treating our careers like a strategy
