Before he was helping athletes return to the sports they love, he was a patient himself. Today, Dr. Wendell Cole brings that same firsthand understanding, resilience, and passion to every patient he treats.

As a teenager, Dr. Cole suffered a torn meniscus that required surgery with a Resurgens physician — an experience that first sparked his interest in orthopedics and sports medicine. Years later, after tearing his ACL in college and undergoing another surgery and rehabilitation journey, he gained an even deeper appreciation for the impact physicians can have on a patient’s life and recovery.

Being unable to stay active during those injuries showed him just how connected movement can be to a person’s identity and quality of life. That experience ultimately inspired him to pursue a career focused on helping others regain their strength, confidence, and return to sport.

“I know what it’s like to be on the patient side and go through the process,” Dr. Cole shared. “Being able to help patients recover and get back to doing what they love is incredibly rewarding.”

Now, he combines that empathy with his passion for sports medicine, treating athletes and active individuals with the goal of helping them safely return to the activities that matter most to them — whether that’s powerlifting, football, baseball, or everyday movement.
