The Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority

The Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority The FDHA focuses on promoting the general health of the community and advocating for the indigent.

As Owners of the Grady Health System, the FDHA (the "Authority") works to eliminate health disparities in the metro Atlanta by serving as a resource for individuals and families seeking information and access to quality health services in Fulton and DeKalb counties. We also work by assisting metro Atlanta public health professionals in overcoming barriers that may prevent them from providing needed care.

This time last week, we attended the Council for Quality Growth 2026 State of the County Address [DeKalb], where CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson outlined a bold and forward-looking vision for one of the communities we serve.

At The Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority, we recognize that does not operate in isolation—it intersects with economic development, housing, education, infrastructure, and overall community well-being.

The priorities shared during the State of the County reinforced the critical role cross-sector collaboration plays in building a healthier, more equitable .

The FDHA remains committed to supporting CEO Cochran-Johnson’s vision by supporting initiatives that strengthen healthcare access, address social determinants of health, and foster partnerships across sectors. Together, we are working to ensure that every resident has the opportunity to thrive.

We look forward to continuing this important work alongside county leadership and community partners.

Last week, we proudly celebrated a major milestone at the Atlanta Metropolitan State College Pinning Ceremony for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician Program—honoring students who are now certified phlebotomy technicians and ready to serve our community.

Through FDHA’s investment in a comprehensive workforce pipeline, including targeted scholarships, we are supporting meaningful pathways into critical healthcare careers. These graduates represent more than individual achievement; they are a vital step toward strengthening our local healthcare workforce.

By supporting access to education and training in high-demand fields like phlebotomy, we are building a healthier, more resilient community for the future.

We are proud to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the new Grady South Emergency Department — a major step forward in expanding access to quality, lifesaving care for residents of South Fulton. ✂️🏥

This partnership represents more than a new facility; it reflects our shared commitment to ensuring that our neighbors have access to essential healthcare services close to home.

As the first phase of a larger vision for a full medical campus, this milestone marks meaningful progress toward building a healthier, more connected community in South Fulton for years to come.

reminds us that: Early support and Recognizing signs matter.

In supporting those efforts, we are proud to have equipped local DeKalb County Government leaders, officials, and personnel with hashtag training—empowering them to identify early warning signs of mental health challenges and respond with confidence and care 💚

By strengthening awareness at the leadership level, we’re building more responsive, compassionate communities where no one’s struggles go unnoticed.

We sincerely thank the DeKalb County workers and officials who were able to attend this critical Mental Health First Aid training—your commitment to recognizing the signs and providing early support is an important step toward building a healthier, more resilient community for all residents.

See the Person. Support the Journey.

is part of everyday life. It shapes how we think, feel, connect with others, and move through the world.

This year’s national theme highlights the importance of:

🔹Noticing early signs of mental health concerns
🔹Strengthening the support around us
🔹Responding with care and compassion during challenging moments

Mental health touches every part of life — from housing and work to relationships and community. When mental health challenges arise, they often intersect with substance use, and whole person care that addresses both is essential to lasting recovery and well-being.

Supporting someone living with a serious mental illness starts with understanding. Learning about mental health conditions can help you respond with empathy and confidence.

The Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority is proud to work alongside community partners to connect residents with vital health and mental health resources. When care is coordinated, everyone can get the support they need—at the right time.
