Recover timelines vary by procedure, but many patients planning for summer results being consultations and scheduling several weeks to months in advanced to allow for healing and swelling reduction.

For any procedure requiring incisions, it is best to stay out of bodies of water - pools, hot tubs, the ocean, baths & saunas - for 4 weeks post-op to avoid bacterial infection.

If you've ever said one of these sentences, then this post is for you!

"I only want a facial plastic surgeon to do my facelift because that's what they specialize in."
"I don't want someone who also does bodies to touch my face - they won't know what they're doing!"
"A plastic surgeon isn't a facial plastic surgeon."

We're here to debunk these beliefs.

The reality is that both facial plastic surgeons AND plastic surgeons can be exceptionally qualified to perform facial aesthetic surgery. The difference comes down to training pathways, surgical experience, and specialization.

Facial plastic surgeons traditionally train through ENT (Ear, Nose, & Throat) with a focus on the face, head and neck.

Plastic surgeons train through general surgery followed by plastic & reconstructive surgery, often with additional fellowship training in areas such as microsurgery, craniofacial surgery, aesthetic surgery, and reconstruction.

Dr. Reddy's background includes advanced training in microsurgery and reconstructive surgery, providing extensive experience with facial anatomy, tissue handling, reconstruction, surgical precision and aesthetic balance.

At the end of the day, choosing a surgeon should never come down to a title alone.

Patients should consider:
🔹 training and board certification
🔸 surgical experience
🔹 before & after results
🔸 aesthetic philosophy
🔹 complication management
🔸 and whether the surgeon's approach aligns with the patient's goals.

Some of my biggest fears as a board certified plastic surgeon:

1. DIY Injectables: PLEASE do not attempt to inject yourself or others with neurotoxins, fillers, etc if you are not a trained professionals.

I promise, the risks DO NOT outway the reward.

2. Pillow Face + Filler Migration: Too much is just too much. Choosing the right surgeon or injector is crucial to your outcome.

Ensure you go to someone with a client portfolio that matches your desired goals. And remember: less is always more!

3. Instagram Filters as Treatment Goals: With the rise of AI generated images, filters and over-editing, patients need to remember that those "results" are unrealistic and NOBODY looks like that (not even the people in the photos)

4. After Photos with Better Lighting and a Full Face of Makeup: Before and After photos are part of every surgeon's social media. When selecting a surgeon or practice to use for your procedure, be aware of the lighting conditions, angles and potential for editing, blurring or otherwise enhancing the after photos to show a "better" result.

A great surgeon will always be honest about what your expectations should be and what is realistic for you and your anatomy.

5. Patients Not Waiting Following Post Op Instructions: I know summer and travel are right around the corner, but PLEASE follow all post-op care instructions.

You may think you're fully healed, but there can still be micro tears healing beneath the skin. These are large enough for harmful bacteria to get in.

So NO pool, ocean, hot tubs, baths, saunas or steam rooms until you're cleared by your surgeon.
