This is important work and should change the way we assess what a client is carrying when they come to therapy.

Emerging science suggests that the effects of trauma could be genetically passed down from one generation to another.

“If you feel you have been affected by a very traumatic, difficult, life-altering experience that your mother or father has had, there’s something to that,” says Rachel Yehuda, professor of psychiatry and neuroscience of trauma at Mount Sinai in New York. Her research points to a small epigenetic “signal” that a life-altering experience “doesn’t just die with you,” she says. “It has a life of its own afterwards in some form.”

This looks like a great workshop being run in Kutztown!

Learn the building blocks of compassionate communication for deeper empathy and healthy conflict resolution. The sessions will be facilitated by Deni Tobin who has years of experience in teaching and advocating for violence prevention in Chester County.
Session One will explore the difference between judgment and observation.
Session Two explores the difference between feelings and faux feelings; practice sharing feelings, and how to use feeling to achieve better connections with people.
Session Three will summarize what we’ve learned in the previous sessions and explore how to make requests without coercion.
