Savannah's journey has been challenging, battling a severely compromised immune system that lands her in the hospital often.

Recently, during a routine visit at Duke Health, she was directed to the ER and admitted for care.

"If not for Angel Flight Soars, my sister would have to drive the 8+ hours here and back to bring me home. It would be a hardship, as she has two small children at home and is expecting a third (due in October). Her husband works full-time and it is hard for him to break away without 2+ weeks advanced notice, unless it's an emergency. It will keep my family and friends from having to commit an entire day or multiple days to transporting me to and from my appointments/hospital stays in Durham. It will greatly reduce the burden on them, as well as my own concern for their well-being as they travel such a long way"

Fortunately, thanks to a kind volunteer pilot from Angel Flight Soars, Savannah discovered free transportation for her medical appointments! Now she can focus on healing without worrying about travel. ✈️💙

Amelia Earhart Day!

Today we honor the birth and trailblazing achievements of the legendary aviation pioneer. Amelia made history in 1932 as the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic.

On July 2, 1937, her plane disappeared near Howland Island in the Pacific Ocean, while trying to circumnavigate the globe. Despite decades of exhaustive searches and numerous theories, the wreckage has never been found.
