Arthur Vaughn of Marietta, Georgia, has a pretty incredible survival story. Days after running in the Peachtree Road Race, the 53-year-old went into sudden, rapid heart failure, and needed a new heart. Vaughn received one after just 4 days on a transplant waiting list.

In Vicki Hertzberg’s case, she was told that it could take up to seven years to receive a donor that was on life support.
