Emory Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing professor Vicki Hertzberg, PhD, speaks with 11Alive about her recent kidney transplant, which was donated by her former student -- and now Emory Nursing assistant professor -- Roxana Chicas, PhD.

In Vicki Hertzberg’s case, she was told that it could take up to seven years to receive a donor that was on life support.
