๐ŸŒฟ Finding the right therapist is about more than finding someone with availability. Itโ€™s about finding a place where you feel understood, supported, and comfortable doing meaningful work.

At Intown Counseling & Wellness, we provide evidence-based, trauma-informed psychotherapy and mental health services through a personalized approach designed around each clientโ€™s unique needs.

Our clinicians work with individuals, teens, couples, families, and groups addressing concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationships, life transitions, trauma, emotional regulation, and personal growth. We also offer psychological testing and evaluations when greater diagnostic clarity can help guide treatment and next steps. ๐Ÿง

There is no single approach to therapy that works for everyone. Thatโ€™s why our clinicians draw from established therapeutic approaches while considering the whole person: their experiences, relationships, strengths, challenges, and goals.
Whether youโ€™re navigating something difficult or simply want to understand yourself more deeply, psychotherapy can provide dedicated time to slow down, recognize patterns, develop new skills, and create meaningful change. ๐Ÿ’š

Weโ€™ve been proud to serve the Atlanta community for 14+ years, now from our welcoming Buckhead office as well as virtually throughout Georgia.

๐ŸŒฟ Gratitude isnโ€™t about pretending everything is okay. Itโ€™s about helping the mind notice what is okay, even when life is difficult.

As a coping mechanism, practicing gratitude can be a useful tool for mood management and emotional regulation. When weโ€™re stressed, anxious, or feeling low, attention can naturally narrow around problems, threats, disappointments, and what feels unresolved. Gratitude gives us an intentional way to widen that lens. ๐Ÿง โœจ

Taking a few moments to identify something we appreciate can help us:

โ€ข shift attention away from repetitive negative thinking
โ€ข notice positive experiences that might otherwise go overlooked
โ€ข increase feelings of connection and appreciation
โ€ข create perspective during periods of stress
โ€ข strengthen awareness of supportive people, experiences, and resources
โ€ข cultivate positive emotions alongside difficult ones

Importantly, gratitude doesnโ€™t require us to deny sadness, anger, anxiety, or disappointment. Two things can be true at the same time: life can be difficult, and there can still be something worth appreciating.

Thatโ€™s what makes gratitude a useful coping skill. It isnโ€™t about replacing an uncomfortable emotion with a positive one. Itโ€™s about expanding our awareness so that the difficult emotion isnโ€™t the only thing occupying the room. ๐Ÿ’š

Try a simple check-in today:
What is one thing, however small, that youโ€™re grateful for right now?

๐Ÿง โœจ Psychotherapy often asks us to become curious about the difference between what feels comfortable and what may actually be true.

All of us develop ways of understanding ourselves and the world that help us feel safe. We tell ourselves stories about who we are, why relationships unfold the way they do, what other people think of us, or why certain patterns keep repeating. Some of those stories are accurate. Others may be shaped by fear, past experiences, assumptions, or ways of coping that once served an important purpose. ๐ŸŒฟ

One of the valuable parts of psychotherapy is having a space to gently examine those narratives rather than automatically accepting them as truth. That can require vulnerability. Insight is not always comfortable, but it can give us greater freedom to make different choices.

And importantly, therapy isn't about someone else telling you what is true. It is a collaborative process of developing greater self-awareness, curiosity, and psychological flexibility so that you can understand yourself more clearly. ๐Ÿ’š

Sometimes growth begins with a deceptively simple question:

โ€œIs this true, or has this simply become familiar?โ€

At Intown Counseling & Wellness, we provide evidence-based, trauma-informed psychotherapy and mental health services.

๐Ÿพ๐ŸŒฟ Cooper may be taking this opportunity for a little self-reflection. ๐Ÿ˜‰ But Jon Kabat-Zinnโ€™s familiar phrase points to something central to mindfulness: we bring our internal world with us.

Changing jobs, relationships, routines, or surroundings can sometimes be helpful, but a change in scenery doesnโ€™t automatically change the thoughts, emotions, habits, and patterns we carry within us.

Mindfulness encourages us to turn toward our experience with curiosity rather than constantly trying to escape or change it. ๐Ÿง โœจ That awareness can help us recognize our patterns and create a little more space between what we experience and how we respond.

Psychotherapy can take that exploration deeper, helping us better understand what we carry with us, where it came from, and what we may be ready to change. ๐Ÿ’š

Wherever you find yourself today, take a moment to check in with the person who came along for the journey: you. ๐Ÿชž

At Intown Counseling & Wellness, we provide evidence-based, trauma-informed psychotherapy and mental health services.
