This informational workshop is designed for individuals who want to better understand how trauma therapies work, what makes them different from traditional talk therapy, and whether one of these approaches may be a good fit for their healing journey.

Participants are welcome to submit questions anonymously ahead of time via email, with additional live questions answered during the session as time allows.

Topics may include:

-How trauma impacts the brain and nervous system
-Differences between EMDR, Brainspotting, ART, and Lifespan Integration

In a world that often moves fast, kindness slows us down long enough to truly see one another. Connection is built in the everyday moments…a check-in text, a patient conversation, a gentle response, a reminder that someone matters.

Sometimes healing begins there.

Book of the Week: *Set Boundaries, Find Peace* by Nedra Glover Tawwab

Summer time is the perfect time to catch up on some good reading! Burnout. Resentment. Emotional exhaustion. Sometimes the issue isn’t that you care too much, it’s that your boundaries have been stretched too thin.

At AWP, we often remind clients that boundaries are not walls designed to keep people out. They are anchors that help protect your peace, clarify your needs, and create healthier relationships.

This week’s recommendation offers practical, honest insight for anyone struggling with people-pleasing, overextending, guilt, or difficulty saying “no.”

Key reminders from this read:
• Boundaries are a form of self-respect
• Saying “no” does not make you difficult
• Resentment is often a signal, not a personality trait
• Healthy relationships can survive honest communication

Healing sometimes looks less like becoming someone new and more like finally giving yourself permission to take up space.

đź’ Reflection Question:
Which boundary feels hardest to maintain right now?

Poll:
• Family
• Work
• Friendships
• Romantic relationships

There are some clinicians who simply have it — the presence, intuition, warmth, and ability to make people feel deeply seen. Ayana is one of them.

We are excited to officially introduce Ayana Byam-Holston, Graduate Intern Therapist at Anchored Wellness & Psychotherapy. Ayana brings a grounded, compassionate approach to the therapy space and is passionate about supporting clients navigating anxiety, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, self-esteem challenges, and relationship concerns.

As a graduate intern, Ayana is currently accepting new clients at a reduced rate — creating greater access to quality mental health care while working under close clinical supervision and mentorship.

If you’ve been considering therapy, this could be a meaningful place to begin.

Now accepting:
• Virtual therapy throughout Georgia
• In-person sessions in Atlanta
• Reduced-fee therapy spots available

Healing isn’t about pushing through or trying to “figure it out” on your own.

More often, it begins in the moment you feel understood—by yourself and by someone trained to walk with you through it.

At Anchored Wellness Psychotherapy, we support individuals and families across Atlanta and throughout Georgia (virtual therapy available) who are navigating anxiety, overwhelm, parenting stress, and emotional burnout.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re holding space for the parts of your experience that often go unseen or unspoken.

If this resonates with you, you’re not alone—and support is available when you’re ready.

Introducing Harborstone Collective, the group experience at Anchored Wellness & Psychotherapy.

Harborstone Collective is a space for steady growth, meaningful connection, and shared work. Created as an extension of our commitment to thoughtful, trauma-informed care, Harborstone offers small, intentional groups designed to support clients beyond individual sessions.

These groups are built for real life — a place to practice skills, process experiences, and connect with others who understand. Whether you’re navigating transitions, deepening therapeutic work, or looking for consistent support, Harborstone provides structure without pressure.

What to expect:
• Therapist-led, clinically grounded groups
• Small group sizes for safety and connection
• Evening and daytime offerings
• Skills-based and process-oriented options
• Short-term and ongoing group formats

Spring often brings more energy, movement, and momentum. With that shift, therapy can begin to feel less urgent — and sessions naturally get spaced out.

But feeling better is often a sign that the work is taking root. Consistency during this season can help strengthen growth, deepen insight, and support lasting change.

If weekly sessions feel harder to maintain, this may be a meaningful time to:
• Join a therapy group
• Schedule an intensive
• Shift to focused, goal-oriented sessions

We’re currently offering groups and intensives designed to support deeper work in intentional ways.

Life moves fast but even a single mindful minute can make a difference especially if you are someone with a case of the “Mondays.” Today, give yourself permission to pause. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and simply notice the present moment. Your mind and body will thank you.

Forgiveness is often misunderstood.
Not as something layered, complex, and deeply personal—but as something we’re expected to “just do.”

This week’s pick gently challenges that narrative.

Why this aligns with our work at AWP:
Healing doesn’t require you to minimize your pain or rush your process. This book honors the tension many people feel—wanting peace, while still holding very real hurt. It creates space for both.

Key takeaways:
• Forgiveness is not the same as reconciliation
• You can set boundaries and still move toward healing
• Letting go is a process—not a one-time decision
• Your story deserves to be acknowledged, not bypassed

If you’ve ever felt stuck between holding on and wanting to move forward—this is a meaningful place to begin.

What feels harder right now?
