Anyone who knows me, knows that one way I show
my love is by feeding others. I'm kind of a kitchen witch, making magic happen! I adore making soups especially! Today a new mom enjoyed a rich homemade bone broth with beef, onions, oyster mushrooms, grated garlic and ginger, with eggs (think egg drop soup) topped with scallions. This mom enjoyed an uninterrupted shower, a bowl of nutrious soup, and a much needed nap.

The Jacksonville Baby Company has provided overnight and daytime fourth trimester support to families in and around the Greater Jacksonville area since 2013.

One of the biggest misconceptions about the fourth trimester is that you'll know whether you need support once your baby arrives.

The reality?

By then, you're recovering from birth, adjusting to life with a newborn, and making important decisions while running on very little sleep.

Planning for postpartum support isn't about expecting something to go wrong. It's about giving yourself options before you need them.

The families we work with aren't trying to predict the future, they're choosing to prepare for it.

If you're expecting a baby and wondering what overnight postpartum support looks like, we'd love to talk.

MODEL CALL IN JAX, FL!!

The Jacksonville Baby Company is planning a brand photo and video shoot, and we're looking for one to two women to model with us.

Our shoot will tell the story of the first few weeks with a newborn, from the afternoon through the overnight hours, highlighting how a postpartum doula and newborn care specialist support families during the fourth trimester.

We're looking for someone who:
• Is approximately 30–40 years old
• Is comfortable in front of a camera (no modeling experience needed!)
• Has a warm, approachable personality
• Is reliable and able to commit to the scheduled shoot
• Is comfortable being featured on our website, social media, and marketing materials

Please note that this shoot includes lifestyle scenes portraying the early postpartum period, featuring relaxed, cozy, at-home, in-and-out-of-bed moments with a newborn model (you don't need a newborn or baby to model).

This is a paid modeling opportunity.
Food and refreshments will be provided during the shoot.

📍 Date: Tuesday, September 9
🕒 Time: Approximately 3:00 PM–9:00 PM
📍 Location: Jacksonville, FL area

If you're interested, comment below or send us a DM with:
• Your name
• A recent photo of yourself
• A sentence or two about yourself

Feel free to tag someone who would be a wonderful fit!

We're excited to create beautiful imagery that showcases what life can look like when families have compassionate, professional support during the earliest days with their newborn. 🤍

Most parents naturally focus on what they're feeding their baby.

Formula.
Breast milk.
Bottle brands.
Ni**le flow.

Those things matter, but not as much as how a baby is fed!

Paced bottle feeding is about slowing down, recognizing your baby's cues, and making feeding a calmer experience for both of you.

In our newest blog, we cover:
What paced bottle feeding is
Common mistakes we see
Why slowing down can make a meaningful difference
How learning your baby's cues builds confidence

One of the biggest misconceptions we see with newborn feeding isn't what parents are feeding, it's HOW they're feeding.

Over the years, we've cared for hundreds of newborns overnight, and one thing we've learned is that slowing down can make a meaningful difference. Taking the time to pace a feeding, burp thoroughly, and watch your baby's cues often helps feeding feel calmer and more comfortable for everyone.

We've even worked with families who changed formula multiple times, convinced that was the problem, only to discover that adjusting how they fed their baby made all the difference.

Every baby is different, and there isn't a one-size-fits-all approach. That's why we believe personalized guidance is so valuable during the fourth trimester.

Paced bottle feeding is about more than slowing down. Learn how recognizing your baby's feeding cues can create calmer, more comfortable feedings.

As postpartum doulas at The Jacksonville Baby Company we are trained to help you recognize early warning signs. We don't diagnose or treat, but rather help families understand that there is a wide range of emotions and experiences that come with a new life entering the world. We help you identify what you're feeling and seeing, help connect you to resources in the community, teach you hands-on skills and how to recognizes your baby's cues, get the rest you need, and embrace the next chapter with grace and compassion, for yourself and your partner.

For years, one of the greatest privileges of my work has been watching new parents become and grow in confidence!

It rarely happens because we teach them one life-changing trick. It happens because of dozens of little moments.

A parent recognizes the difference between overstimulation and hunger before the crying starts. They master paced bottle feeding and stop before their baby becomes uncomfortably full. They wait just a little longer when their newborn is making noises in the bassinet and realize their baby was actually still asleep.

Then one night, almost without realizing it, they do something they've never done before...

They trust themselves fully and do/act confidently without second-guessing!

Today's parents have access to more information than any generation before them. At 2:00 a.m., it's completely natural to grab your phone and start searching. Researching a topic to death can steal the joy of new parenthood!

The challenge isn't finding information. The challenge is figuring out what applies to your baby.

That's why I wrote this article.

We don't compete with Google. We don't tell anyone how to parent.

I wrote this to explain why hands-on, individualized guidance can never be replaced by an internet search.

If you're expecting a baby or know someone who is, I hope you'll take a few minutes to read it.
