Real life is starting to feel like a chapter of Handmaid’s Tale where intelligent women past their birthing years are being pushed out of leadership roles in society.

Representation matters and a sector of highly experienced Gen X women who spent their career in corporate leadership roles are being pushed out of employment at staggering numbers with the door not only slammed but firmly locked behind them - and now that is showing up as further under-representation in new Board of Director and Advisory roles.

The latest stats showed less women welcomed to new board of director roles over the past decade, with S&P 500 companies only adding 29% women in Q2 2026 to new roles vs 38% in 2025.

BoD roles have always been a sausage party, particularly in the Tech and venture-funded sectors where I work where 2/3rds of any board are male-dominated. Female representation gets even tighter in some Tech sectors like Fintech which only has an 11% female representation at the table.

In venture-backed startups women hold only 17% of seats and 32% have all-male boards.

How does this happen? When you start with mainly male-founders and a male-dominated investor group, they’re more likely to have a hiring bias to find people like themselves to sit alongside. A Swedish business study showed that men are 60% more likely to hire men like themselves, than women (who had this bias 40% of the time).

Why should we care as GenX women working in corporate? Because our careers are being cut short and now the door we had been working toward our entire career is also being slammed in our faces as well.

WTAF can we do about this? Do we try to take down a huge system? - hell naw. That ship is sailing away already.

We can work together. We can create our own female-owned businesses using our own vast experience. That’s what I’m doing.

Plot twist. Maybe 50 isn’t when our options start shrinking, despite being served up a big đŸ’©sandwich by the corporations we missed our kid’s sports games and important milestones to support.

Maybe it’s when we finally stop choosing from the options we were given.

Now what are you going to do with that?

Start a Corporate Backup of your own. While you’re still sucking back the corporate paycheck. Because your next act is going to be your best.

Well, this feels like a pretty fu***ng important line in the sand.

On September 4th, a federal court ruled that Americans have “no constitutional right to clean drinking water.”

Nope, you read that right.

After we’ve complained that the very substance we need to keep us alive and functioning, is unsafe and toxic - they basically just shrugged and said it’s not their problem.

We question our food. We read the labels. We worry about what’s in our skincare. We filter the air in our homes.

Maybe it’s time we got a hell of a lot more serious about the thing we put into our bodies every single day. Our water.💧

Because whatever your politics are, “you have no constitutional right to clean drinking water” should make ALL of us pay attention.

This is a big fat bat signal in the sky for all of us to wake up and take control of what we’re drinking and bathing in. If you want more than just a filter - comment INFO and I’ll send you a link to an eBook that talks about what I’ve put in place for my family.

When the AF did experience become a liability? Seriously. At what point did having 25+ years of leadership experience go from “Holy s**t, she knows what she’s doing” to “Hmmm
 is she still relevant?”

Because apparently somewhere around 50, women in corporate America have magically stopped being experienced and started being old.

Which is absolutely fu***ng wild to me. This complete cluster-f**kage switch seems to have only started in the past 5-6 years.

And there was once a time when getting older actually meant something powerful.

In pagan traditions, the "Crone" was the "wise woman". The elder. She was allowed embrace her weirdness because she's the woman who had lived enough life to know some s**t.

She wasn’t ghosted because her rĂ©sumĂ© had too many years on it. People listened to her. They would go to her for advice and actually listen to what she said - because she knew stuff.

Now, "crone" is an insult. Gray hair needs to be covered. And 25-years of experience needs to be shaved down to 15 so nobody does the math and realizes you're past your use by date.

JOKING!!...it needs to be shaved down to 10 to get past the fu***ng ADP system so you can even be considered for an interview..ughhh

Honestly, the only way through this is to start your own business and put all that delicious juicy experience to work. Outside of the corporate system.

Happy to share what I'm building to see if you wanna join my Crone posse of corporate women who want income and purpose on their terms.

Comment BACKUP and I'll send you deets.

I knew molecular-hydrogen water would be beneficial for me. I’d followed all the studies and literature, so I started with what I thought would be the easiest way to access it for myself - dissolvable pills. Blechh. One star. Would not recommend to a friend.

I have 3 boxes left from my original purchase because I just couldn’t stomach the sour taste and chalky texture. But on top of that - and on top of the ridiculous price, they don’t produce enough to easily reach the therapeutic threshold to gain benefits. I had no positive response to them - but I couldn’t stomach them at all.

So I purchased a small handheld ionizer - it wasn’t cheap but I thought it would be more convenient. And it had a cool blue light. And who doesn’t love a cool blue light.

But it was noisy, slow, and didn’t even make a full glass of H2 water. I have even heard from the influencers pushing them that they don’t last long before they stop making hydrogen water, before you have to keep replacing them. 2-stars, only because of the blue light.

I spent a long time researching Kangen ionizers before I purchased my first one. It’s one of those purchases that you get annoyed that you didn’t buy one sooner. In fact, I became a distributor so I could make sure other people could learn about them as well.

The ONLY medical-grade ionizer on the market.
7 types (pH levels) of ionizer water
Self-cleaning AND deep cleaning functions
Service center to deep clean annually
Known to last 20-25+ yrs
Convenient and portable

But apart from that, the water is delicious. My autistic daughter drinks water for the first time and asks for this several times a day.

So this is my PERSONAL review of the hydrogen water products that I’ve tested, specifically from a taste and convenience perspective.

If you’d like to learn more - just comment INFO and I’ll send you a great eBook.

The shame that comes with getting restructured from the boardroom to the job center doesn’t leave you..and it can be re-triggered with any hint of restructuring in future jobs.

It’s why most GenX women who were restructured out of leadership roles in corporations don’t share the psychological and financial struggles they’re dealing with. And most of us take this silent shame and self-isolate at a time when we really need our community to help us through it.

Let’s reclaim that shame by getting ahead of it. I’ve been through this layoff shame many times and I know that next time restructuring happens to me, I won’t be able to get another corporate job again.

Because corporations have rigged the system against experienced Gen X women from being able to re-enter. So the solution needs to come from us.

And if you’re in the middle of it now - reach out, talk to women like you so you know it’s not personal - it’s an epidemic.

The most important things when you lose your work identity is your health, income, and a sense of purpose. I get all of those from my Corporate Backup.

We didn’t work our asses off to go out like this. The power is in your hands to start now.

Comment BACKUP if you’d like to know what I’m building or send this to someone who needs a community who knows what she’s going through.

There’s a reason people tell you not to make massive life decisions immediately after a breakup.

You’re hurt. You’re angry. Your confidence has taken a beating. You’re questioning everything you thought you knew about the relationship and probably replaying every conversation looking for the signs you missed.

A layoff will do EXACTLY the same thing to you.
Especially when you’ve spent years, or sometimes decades, giving a company your time, your ideas, your loyalty, your late nights, your missed dinners, your fu***ng LIFE
and then one day they decide they don’t need you anymore.

That s**t feels personal even when they tell you it isn’t. But you’ll spend a lot of time trying to process and get over it, where your HR will move on emotionally as soon as the separation agreement has been signed.

And THAT is the version of yourself you’re expecting to suddenly figure out your entire future? Find another job in a market that is already becoming increasingly difficult for experienced Gen X workers?

Or to eventually decide you’re finally going to start that business you’ve been thinking about? While you’re simultaneously trying to process what just happened and wondering how long your severance is going to last? Nope.

This is why I’m so relentless about Gen X women building a backup BEFORE we need one. Because starting something new takes energy. It takes confidence. It takes learning. It takes showing up when you don’t know what the f**k you’re doing yet. It potentially takes negotiating with impostor syndrome for the first few weeks.
And most importantly, it takes time.

I’m giving myself that time NOW, while I’m still employed, still getting paid and making the decision from a place of “this is where I want my life to go” rather than “holy s**t, what am I going to do now?”

You don’t need to build the same backup I’m building.
But you really should start building something before corporate decides when you need it.

And if you want to know what I chose, why I chose it and what I’m building alongside my corporate career, just comment BACKUP and I’ll tell you.

Big Pharma doesn’t want you dead, come on Susan, that would be TERRIBLE for business -they need you alive and reliant on them.

We're not living healthier -we’re just getting better at living longer while sick. We’ve added years to our lives and somehow turned chronic illness into a lifetime subscription.

But before you come at me, don’t get me wrong - if I get hit by a car, don’t just wave a fu***ng celery stick at me - take me to a hospital.

But if I go to a mechanic because my car is rattling, don’t sell me an expensive car stereo to drown out the noise so I can own a dead car with an expensive sound system.

There’s another approach to health that more people are choosing. We’re not waiting until our body is screaming at us and then looking for something to shut it up. We’re looking at what we do every single day.

The quality of the water 💩 we drink. The food we eat. How we move, sleep and manage stress. We’re relearning how we can treat illness holistically and ideally avoid it altogether.

Because your body isn’t sitting there doing f**k-all until somebody gives it a prescription.

It’s regulating, repairing, replacing and protecting every single day. THAT is homeostasis at work.

And people are starting to become far more interested in supporting those normal processes and creating the conditions for homeostasis, rather than spending the second half of our lives trying to suppress the symptoms from losing it.

THAT is the shift I’m interested in.

Not because I think medicine is disappearing. It isn’t. But because our blind dependence on it as the first and only answer for sure is.

So if you’re a Gen X woman looking at the next twenty or thirty years - both your health and how the hell you intend to earn a living when the same corporate system behind Big Pharma decides you’re past your employment use by date - THIS shift is worth paying attention to.

I didn’t accidentally start building a business in this wellness space. I chose which side of this change I wanted to be on.

If you’re looking at the same shift and thinking, “Yep, I want to help people with this too,” message me SHIFT.

I’ll show you what I’m building.
