Our You Matter Boxes Are Here! 💚

After a little weather delay, we are so excited to share that our You Matter Boxes are now available and stocked with items at three local parks in Atlantic!

📍 Harl-Holt Park
📍 Kiddie Korral Park
📍 Cedar Park

These boxes were created with one simple purpose: to spread kindness, encouragement, and reminders that everyone matters. Whether someone needs a little encouragement, a fidget to help through a difficult moment, a fun activity, or simply a reminder that they are not alone, we hope these boxes offer something meaningful to anyone who stops by.

Inside, you’ll find things like:
🌸 Handmade crafts and kindness reminders
💗 Encouraging messages and positive affirmations
🧩 Fidgets and sensory items
🎨 Small activities and fun surprises
💚 Items intended to brighten someone’s day

We plan to add NEW ITEMS EVERY WEEK to keep the boxes fresh, fun, and full of encouragement.

This project was part of Volunteer Iowa’s Community Day of Service. Instead of just giving back for one day, we wanted to do something a little different — something that would continue giving back long after the day was over. We hope these boxes become an ongoing source of kindness and connection in our community.

A HUGE thank-you to Atlantic Parks & Recreation for partnering with us and helping make this project possible. We appreciate your willingness to work alongside us to bring this idea to life!

We also want to recognize our staff and the individuals in our Day Program who contributed their time, creativity, and talents by making handmade items for the boxes. They helped bring this project to life, and we’re excited that they have the opportunity to continue creating items to share with the community!

And to our wonderful volunteers who joined us for our volunteer event, stopped by our booth at Produce in the Park to make something, and helped install the boxes — THANK YOU! Your time, creativity, and willingness to help made a lasting impact. ❤️

Thank you to Skip’s Celebration Center for allowing us to move our volunteer event to your venue with the never ending rain.

HOW CAN YOU HELP KEEP THE KINDNESS GOING?

These boxes belong to our community, and we would love your help keeping them stocked and in great condition!

We are always accepting:
* Donations of items and supplies to place inside the boxes.
* Handmade crafts, encouraging notes, and small activities.
* Craft supplies or groups willing to make items for the boxes.
* Monetary donations to help us purchase supplies and keep the boxes stocked.
* Donations of resources from local businesses, organizations, churches, schools, or community groups.

If you or an organization would like to contribute resources, sponsor supplies, or help create items for the boxes, please reach out to us!

If you visit a You Matter Box, please help us take care of it, keep it neat, and leave it ready for the next person to enjoy. Take what you need, share what you can, and help us keep the kindness going!

You may have noticed that we’ve been celebrating the superheroes of PFP this week as part of DSP Week 💥

While we’re having some fun with the superhero theme, the truth is that our staff are heroes every day. They show up, step up, and make a difference in the lives of the people we serve in so many ways.

We are incredibly thankful for the dedication, compassion, patience, and heart our staff bring every single day.

Thank you to our amazing team for all that you do!

They may not wear capes, but they are definitely our heroes.

Partnership for Progress has a part-time day employment opportunity for a Direct Support position within our community service program.

Hours include working every Friday from 12p-3pm and every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) from 9am-2pm with the possibility of adding more hours as needed/wanted.

✶We are looking for staff members to work in our Supported Community Living Services (SCL) to assist adult members in their homes and in the community with daily living skills/needs/medications/etc.
>Must be flexible, reliable, self-motivated, patient, caring and respectful.
>A basic knowledge of mental illness, intellectual disability, developmental disability and chemical dependence is preferred.
>Good verbal communication skills and good active listening skills are required.
>Good writing skills (i.e. grammar, spelling, sentence structure) are required.
>Provide quality service and support to people we serve.
>Documenting progress on individuals served is required.
>Medication Manager and experience is preferred but not required upon hire.
>The organization offers benefits for employees.
