The office will be closed today while Amanda and I are up with the sun to complete on-site annual OSHA hearing monitoring with a local trades group!

Thank goodness our trusty neighbor Starbucks was open at 6am!

Thank you to all who joined us today at McIntyre Place for our educational event hosted by WSAudiology! We had a wonderful lunch prepared by The Deli at Sixth and Main and great conversation around hearing health!

Aging well doesn’t happen by chance.

Today I saw an 81-year-old patient who prefers to schedule afternoon appointments with us because she attends workout classes in the morning. She attends classes at the Dekalb County Council on Aging (Heimach Center). She likes chair yoga and Zumba. She told me her mother lived to be 99 so she understands the importance of staying active to age well.

I was proud to share with her that my grandpa is 82-years-old and installed a boxing bag in his basement to help his upper body strength and also does reps with a hand gripper to help maintain his hand strength. His mother also lived to be 99.

These are just two examples of patients we have the pleasure of seeing daily in our office who prioritize their health and aging well.

And our favorite part, they value the role that great hearing plays in socialization and their quality of life!

If you attend a great exercise class, lead an exercise class, or wish to share how you’re aging well, please do! We love to be educated so we can share resources with our people who aren’t sure where to begin!

We were happy to support the Tri-Kappa Kids Triathlon! We are big proponents of aging well, and that begins in our youth! Congratulations to all the winners and participants!

Fireworks are LOUD! There’s no denying that! If you’re close, protect your hearing. If you’re sensitive to sound, there’s no shame in needing to wear earplugs to be able to enjoy the fun of the 4th!

And, here’s my annual plug for sudden hearing loss. If you, or someone you know, experiences a sudden change in hearing as a result of a firework incident this weekend please call us Monday morning 260-226-8834. Don’t wait to see if it’s going to get better. Because sometimes it doesn’t on its own…
