Looking for a low-prep way to boost development that kids actually enjoy? This Magnetic Dot Art is a total game-changer for therapy sessions and home practice alike! 🎨🧲
Whether you’re a therapist or a parent looking for easy carry-over activities, here is why we’re loving this tool:
✨ Why It Works:
Physical Skills: Helps strengthen tiny hand muscles and refine grasp patterns.
Coordination: Challenges hand-eye coordination with every "click" of a piece.
Visual-Motor Integration: Kids practice matching colors, following specific designs, and placing pieces with precision.
🏠 Why Parents Love It:
It’s super motivating for little ones and requires zero messy cleanup. It’s the perfect "quiet time" activity that doubles as a powerhouse for developmental growth.
Give it a try and watch those fine motor skills click into place! 🧩💪

Check out this incredible progress! 🚀
The Power of Persistence (and OT!)
This reel shows the journey of mastering the self-swing rope—a task that requires a massive amount of hidden skills.
The Beginning:
In the first clip, you can see the struggle with motor planning and bilateral coordination. The rope gets caught around the shoulders, and he’s using a forward-flexed posture. This often happens when the body is working overtime to figure out the timing of the swing versus the jump.
The "After" (~2 Months Later):
Look at that transformation! He is now skipping quickly and efficiently.
• Improved Posture: He’s standing tall with an open chest, showing better postural control.
• Fluidity: His timing is spot on, demonstrating that the movement has moved from "thinking hard about every step" to automatic, fluent motor coordination.
• Confidence: You can see it in the speed!
It’s not just about jumping rope—it’s about building the foundational strength and brain-body connection that carries over into everything else he does.
So proud of this hard work! ✨

Check out this incredible display of core strength and bilateral coordination! 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️
In today’s OT session, these two superstars are leveling up the classic "Superman" pose. It might look like just a game, but there is some serious developmental work happening under the surface.
The Challenge:
• The Pose: Both kids are holding a prone extension (Superman), keeping their arms and legs elevated to build postural stability and back extensor strength.
• The Flow: While holding that lift, they’re passing racquetballs behind their backs and timing a simultaneous "give and take" pass with their partner.
Why we love this:
• Primitive Reflex Integration: This specific prone extension position is a powerhouse for integrating the Tonic Labyrinthine Reflex (TLR) and the Landau reflex. Helping these reflexes "graduate" leads to better posture and smoother motor control!
• Midline Crossing: Moving the balls behind the back forces the brain to coordinate both hemispheres effectively.
• Motor Planning: They have to time their movements perfectly with their partner while maintaining their balance.
• Proprioception: They are learning to "feel" where their body is in space, even when their focus is on the ball.
It’s all about building a strong foundation so they can fly through their daily activities! 🚀

Occupational Therapy often looks like "just play," but there is some incredible science happening behind every movement. Today, we’re working on a multi-sensory squat sequence designed to help integrate primitive reflexes.
The "Why" Behind the Move 🧠
In this clip, you’ll see him performing a squat while holding a playground ball. As he descends, he’s not just working on leg strength—he is simultaneously extending his elbows and pushing the ball straight up toward the ceiling.
What’s really going on here?
• Reflex Integration: By coordinating the lower body (flexion) with the upper body (extension) and adding a visual component, we are helping the brain move past "automatic" primitive reflex patterns. This builds the foundation for more complex motor tasks.
• Visual Tracking: Watching the ball as it moves upward is key! This encourages eye-hand coordination and forces the vestibular system (our internal GPS) to stay balanced while the head is tilted.
• Core & Proprioception: Maintaining a steady squat while reaching overhead requires some serious core engagement and an awareness of where his body is in space.
Big Wins in Small Movements 🏆
When we integrate these reflexes, we unlock better focus, improved posture, and smoother coordination for everyday tasks—from sitting at a school desk to catching a ball on the playground.

Dynamic agility! ⚡️
Once the foundation is built, ACL recovery is all about "re-teaching" the brain and body how to move quickly and confidently. Today’s session is all about footwork, coordination, and that final bit of stability.
The Phase: Dynamic Control 🏃‍♀️
• Grid Shuffling (Lateral Speed):
We start with fast side-shuffles, then transition into a structured grid. This isn't just cardio; it’s training lateral deceleration. Being able to stop and change direction on a dime is a huge milestone for return-to-sport.
• The Grid Sequence (Proprioception):
• Hopscotch: Improving vertical power and timing.
• In-and-Out Jumps: Hopping with feet together inside the square and apart outside of it. This builds spatial awareness and ensures the knee can handle rapid "open-to-closed" chain transitions without shifting.
• Isometric Wall-Support Balance:
To finish, we slow it down. Single-leg balancing on the surgical side with the heel elevated against the wall. This creates a specific posterior chain engagement and forces the stabilizers around the knee to fire while under fatigue.
Why the Grid? ⬛⬜
Using a floor grid takes the guesswork out of movement. It forces the athlete to be precise with foot placement, ensuring that every landing is intentional and stable.
The goal? Making these movements second nature so that when she’s back on the field or court, she’s not thinking about her knee—she’s thinking about the game.

Focusing on that post-op glow—and by glow, we mean the sweat of a successful ACL recovery! 🦵✨
Recovering from ACL surgery isn't just about getting back on your feet; it's about rebuilding the foundation stronger than it was before. Here is a breakdown of what’s happening in today’s session:
The Breakdown 🛠️
• The Goblet Squat + Adductor Squeeze:
We’re using a kettlebell for counterbalance and a Pilates ball between the knees. This combo is killer for quad activation and medial stability. Squeezing that ball keeps the hips engaged and prevents the knees from caving in (valgus stress), which is crucial for protecting that new graft!
• The Slant Board Squat:
By squatting on an incline with toes lower than the heels, we are performing cyclist squats. This shift in geometry puts a massive emphasis on the VMO (the teardrop muscle). Strengthening the muscles around the knee cap is the secret sauce to regaining full extension and stability.
