4 Massage Myths That Are Keeping People in Pain. We hear these myths constantly, and honestly? We understand why they exist. Massage has been packaged as a luxury for so long that its real clinical value gets overlooked.
Here's what we know after working with hundreds of clients:
Therapeutic massage is one of the most effective and underused tools in chronic pain management, stress recovery, and long-term physical health.
It reduces cortisol (your primary stress hormone). It improves circulation and lymphatic drainage. It breaks down scar tissue and muscle adhesions that build up over months and years of tension, poor posture, and old injuries.
And it works cumulatively, meaning the more consistently you come, the more your body learns to let go.
If you've been putting this off because you thought it was indulgent, this is your permission slip. 💚

1️⃣ MYTH: "Massage is a luxury, not healthcare."
FACT: Therapeutic massage reduces cortisol, improves lymphatic flow, relieves muscular adhesions, and has clinical evidence for pain management. It's a treatment plan, not a treat.
2️⃣ MYTH: "It has to hurt to work."
FACT: Healing happens within your comfort zone. Excessive pressure triggers the nervous system to guard which is the opposite of what we want. Communication is everything.
3️⃣ MYTH: "One session fixes everything."
FACT: Like exercise, massage benefits compound. One session is a great start, but regular sessions create lasting structural and neurological change.
4️⃣ MYTH: "It's the same as a day spa."
FACT: Therapeutic massage is outcome-focused. Your therapist assesses posture, movement, and pain patterns and creates a targeted treatment plan. Very different.
