Anything that we assume to be true without testing that assumption through a scientific process is just an idea. It may be intuitive, but it's just an idea, and it's hard to move science, industry, economy, and society forward with ideas that haven't been researched. That research is used to define ideas and to formalize concepts into something that can be used for additional research, advocacy, and practice. This is a necessary and important part of research.

The orange zone in the stress continuum is also referred to as the injury zone. This is where actual damage to the provider occurs. It's also a place a provider needs to get out of if there is hope to recover from that damage. The biggest issue with the orange zone is that when we LIVE in the yellow zone it's very difficult to perceive who is actually injured because we're all down in the thick of it.
