Hey y'all!
It's been a minute since I posted...
Plot twist: before I was making digital art, I was the person writing about herd immunity thresholds and EHR struggles for CME-accredited peer-reviewed journals. Riveting stuff, I know. 😆

Turns out you can take the writer out of the journal, but you can't take the writer out of me. So, I finally built a portfolio housing 20 years of healthcare writing that had been hoarding virtual dust in old PDFs:

Last night I got to watch my friend and fellow musician michaelsongs record a live album at The Gradwell House Recording Studio in Haddon Heights, NJ — and it was such a wonderful experience. His music is so dynamic, full of that mix of "struggle and grace" I've always loved about his songwriting. He played my favorite, "Stormchaser," and hearing the song's ebb and flow live was even more powerful than it normally is.

Huge shoutout to Tim Waller and Greg McGarvey Music for their incredibly talented contributions to the performance — the whole night sounded amazing because of the musicians in that room.

The sweetest surprise: michaelsongs mentioned that a sketch I drew of him last year, along with a little writeup I posted about his music, had actually inspired him. His wife, Maria Love, had it framed and out for everyone to see that night. I'm still a little emotional about it — you never really know what your art means to someone else until moments like this.

Thank you to michaelsongs and Maria for such a special night, and for including us in it. 💜

When I sketch musicians live, I’m not trying to create a portrait—I’m trying to capture what it *feels like* to hear👂them.

Seeing michael share both the sketch *and* my words about his music felt like a full-circle moment. Grateful for my local South Jersey music community and how we take the time out to support each other. 🤍🎶

Just upgraded my sketching setup with a stylus and Procreate on my iPad and wow—what a game changer. The control, the detail, the flexibility… this combo has seriously upped my game. 💥

This newest piece features Dave and Jeff Epstein (See Jeff Sing, ) from Tanner Brewing Co.'s Open Mic. Always a pleasure to sketch musicians who bring such a great vibe to the room, and I love that this duo is using the image as part of their marketing. There’s nothing better than seeing artwork out in the world doing what it was created to do.
