Congratulations to Michael on becoming a Certified Forest Therapy Guide! 🌿

This accomplishment reflects Michael’s deep love of nature, and commitment to helping others connect with nature. We’re excited to bring this perspective and practice to the Heartwise Counseling community. 💚

"Boundaries" is a word we often hear thrown around... but how do you go about actually utilizing boundaries in a way that feels both effective AND values-aligned?
We're launching a therapeutic book club, guided by clinical therapist Savannah Barr, LAC, with the help of Nedra Glover Tawwab's book, Set Boundaries Find Peace—A Guide To Reclaiming Yourself," all about helping you answer this question.

Research consistently shows that LGBTQIA+ mental health outcomes improve when people experience acceptance, belonging, and affirming relationships. Pride Month is a reminder that creating safer communities is, and always will be, a mental health issue. 🌈💚

Relationships are central to mental health, because healing happens in relationship. 💚

In relational therapy, the therapeutic relationship itself provides a reparative experience of safety in vulnerability. 💞

Mental health care that recognizes the power and necessity of relationships in the healing process will support the health and development of relationships outside of therapy, too.

Including the one you have with yourself 🥰

Congratulations Chloe! 🎉🎓👏

Our fabulous intern Chloe Rivas is graduating today with her MSW from Rutgers University!

📚 Chloe arrived to us already trained in a variety of play therapy modalities, and during her internship received training in Internal Family Systems, Gender-Affirming Care, Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, EMDR, AutPlay® Therapy, and Playing From The Bottom Up.

🌱 She expanded her caseload to include working with couples and families, and developed and presented, “Through Their Senses,” a neuro-affirming parent workshop, to the community.

✅ Chloe will be taking a much-deserved break before returning to work for us, during which she will pursue training in IFS-Informed EMDR.

💚 If you or your child, family or relationship is impacted by trauma or neurodivergence, and you’re interested in scheduling therapy with Chloe, we are already putting clients on her schedule for June. Reach out today!
