Research Tip for Georgia Research: Check County Boundary Changes
The county you need may not be the county you expect.
Georgiaโs county boundaries changed frequently, and new counties were often created from parts of existing ones. A family could remain in the same location while the county name changed around them. That means an older tax, land, court, or probate record may be filed under a different county than the one you know today.
