Last month, we held our annual Memorial Day ceremony.

One of our core values is "Veterans are Unique." Memorial Day holds especially personal meaning for Veterans and military families. In recognition of this, our ceremony was filled with heart and reflection.

Residents, team members, volunteers, and community members came together not only as attendees, but as active participants. Through readings, music, remarks, and shared memories, we created a meaningful tribute to those who gave their lives in service to our country.

While Memorial Day is a solemn day of remembrance, it can also be a healing experience. For many Veterans, there is comfort in gathering with their sisters and brothers in arms—people who understand the bonds of military service and the sacrifices that accompany it. We shared a beautiful experience in community with one another that transcends what words can adequately describe.

💜🎉 Congratulations, Bob! 🎉💜

We recently gathered to celebrate resident Bob Emery, who was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Honorable Mention Award through the Maine Health Care Association Remember ME program.

A U.S. Army Veteran, Bob was drafted in 1952 and served as a Heavy Weapons Infantryman. After returning home, he built a life centered on family, community, and service to fellow Veterans. For more than 57 years, Bob was an active member of American Legion Post 205 in Augusta. He also helped countless Veterans connect with the benefits they had earned through their service.

Bob's connection to MVH is very special. In addition to his volunteer work, he spent several years working in the Maintenance Department here. It was especially meaningful to have many of Bob's former coworkers join us for the celebration and help honor the impact he made during his time at MVH.

Bob's life is a testament to service, generosity, and commitment to others. We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition and grateful for the impact he has made on so many lives.

Last Thursday, we kicked off CNA Week with a picnic featuring hot dogs, salads, and strawberry shortcake as a small token of appreciation for these incredible team members who care for our residents each day. 🌭🍓

Happy CNA Week! 💙

This week, we proudly celebrate our Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Certified Nursing Assistant-Medication Aides (CNAMs), and Certified Residential Medication Aides (CRMAs).

The National Association of Health Care Assistants (NAHCA) has chosen the theme "We're Unbelievable" for CNA Week 2026, and we couldn't agree more.

These dedicated caregivers are often the first to greet our residents in the morning and the last to wish them goodnight. They provide compassionate care, build meaningful relationships, offer comfort during difficult moments, and help create a true sense of home for the Veterans we are honored to serve.

🌵🎶 We’re looking back at our super fun Cinco de Mayo celebration! We had all the essentials — festive decorations, delicious treats, sombreros, maracas, a conga line, and of course, a taco piñata! 🌮💃

Thank you to the Maine 3 Railers “O” Scale Model Railroad Club for visiting our Home and sharing their incredible model train display! 🚂

Residents enjoyed exploring the detailed layouts, miniature scenes, and moving trains while learning more about the hobby from members of the group. The display sparked wonderful conversations.

We are grateful to this talented group for bringing such a unique and interactive experience to our residents!

We just had to share these additional pictures from National Skilled Nursing Care Week! These are from our garden party, which was a play on the theme for the week — “Moments in Bloom.” 🌸🌼🌿

Everyone enjoyed the colorful decorations, good food, and even their special party hats. Thanks to all who helped make the party, and all of our events that week, a wonderful success!

On Memorial Day, we honor those who died in service to our country. 🖤

Our remembrance invites us to reflect on how we can carry their legacy of service forward.
