June is Men’s Health Month! 🟦💪

Men, it’s time to put your health at the top of your to-do list. Taking care of your health isn’t just about you—it’s about being there for the ones who count on you.

Whether it's been months or years since your last checkup, this month is the perfect reminder to prioritize preventive care. Routine screenings can catch potential issues early, when they are easiest to treat.

This June, commit to small changes that make a big difference:

Schedule that annual exam (and actually go!).

Know your numbers: Check your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels.

Move more: Aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week.

Fuel your body: Incorporate more fresh fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins into your meals.

Listen to your body: Don't ignore unusual symptoms or delay seeking care.

At Medical Associates Plus, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care to keep the men in our community strong, active, and healthy.

🎂 Think twice before you blow out those birthday candles! 🌬️🦠

We all love a good birthday celebration, but did you know that blowing out candles on a cake can increase the bacteria on the frosting by up to 1,400%?

When we blow out candles, tiny droplets of saliva (and whatever germs we might be carrying) land right on the cake that's about to be shared with family and friends. While most of these bacteria are harmless, it’s a fast track for spreading colds, flu, or stomach bugs—especially if the guest of honor is already feeling a little under the weather.

Don't worry, you don't have to cancel the wish! Here are a few germ-free ways to celebrate safely:

The "Designated" Cupcake: Put a candle on a single cupcake just for the birthday VIP to blow out, and leave the main cake untouched. 🧁

The Fan Method: Use a decorative paper fan or clap your hands to create enough wind to put out the flames. 👏💨

The Patent-Pending Wave: Let the kids wave their hands over the candles to put them out (with adult supervision, of course!). 👋

Let's keep the traditions alive while keeping our community healthy! What's your favorite germ-free way to blow out candles? Let us know below! 👇

🧠 Act F.A.S.T. Can Save a Life: May is National Stroke Awareness Month! 🧠

A stroke happens when blood flow to part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, depriving brain tissue of oxygen and nutrients. Within minutes, brain cells begin to die. That is why when it comes to a stroke, every second counts.

Knowing the warning signs and acting quickly can mean the difference between a full recovery and lifelong disability—or even life and death.

Your team at Medical Associates Plus wants to make sure everyone in our community knows the F.A.S.T. acronym to spot a stroke immediately:

👤 F – Face Dropping: Does one side of the face droop or is it numb? Ask the person to smile. Is their smile uneven?

💪 A – Arm Weakness: Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

🗣️ S – Speech Difficulty: Is speech slurred? Are they unable to speak or hard to understand? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence.

⏰ T – Time to call 911: If the person shows any of these symptoms, even if the symptoms go away, call 911 and get them to a hospital immediately. Note the time when the first symptoms appeared.

Can you prevent a stroke?
While some risk factors can't be changed, up to 80% of strokes are preventable! Managing high blood pressure, keeping cholesterol levels in check, eating a balanced diet, staying active, and quitting smoking all drastically lower your risk.

At Medical Associates Plus, we are committed to helping you manage your cardiovascular health and chronic conditions to keep you safe and thriving. If you haven't had your blood pressure checked recently, call us or stop by today to schedule a wellness check!

Let's look out for one another. Share this post to help your family and friends learn how to spot a stroke F.A.S.T.! 📲❤️

💤 Rest, Recharge, Renew: May is Better Sleep Month! 💤

When was the last time you woke up feeling genuinely refreshed? In our busy lives, sleep is often the first thing we sacrifice—but quality sleep isn't a luxury, it’s a vital pillar of your overall health!

During Better Sleep Month, your team at Medical Associates Plus wants to remind you that what happens when your eyes close impacts your entire body. Getting 7 to 9 hours of quality rest each night helps:

🧠 Sharpen focus and improve memory retention

❤️ Lower risks for heart disease and high blood pressure

💪 Strengthen your immune system to fight off infections

⚖️ Regulate metabolism and support healthy weight management

If you're tossing and turning, try these 4 simple adjustments tonight:

📱 Power down screens at least 30 to 60 minutes before bed (blue light tricks your brain into staying awake!).

🌡️ Keep it cool and dark: A lower room temperature naturally signals to your body that it’s time to rest.

🧘 Create a wind-down routine: Reading, light stretching, or journaling can help transition your mind from a hectic day to a restful night.

⏰ Stick to a schedule: Going to bed and waking up at the same time every day—even on weekends—anchors your body’s internal clock.

Persistent sleep issues like severe insomnia or chronic snoring shouldn't be ignored. They can be signs of underlying medical conditions. If you've been struggling to get a good night's rest, let's talk about it. Reach out to Medical Associates Plus today to schedule a wellness visit.

Sweet dreams, community! Drop a 🛌 or 🌙 in the comments if you're committing to better sleep habits tonight!

☀️ Summer is here, and it’s the perfect time to get moving as a family! ☀️

At Medical Associates Plus, we know that staying active together doesn’t just build stronger muscles—it builds stronger bonds. If you’re looking for fun ways to keep the kids away from their screens and get everyone's heart pumping this summer, we’ve got you covered!

Here are a few healthy, family-friendly summer activities to try:

Take a Family Bike Ride: Explore local trails or take a evening cruise around your neighborhood. It's great cardiovascular exercise and a wonderful way to wind down.

Plan a Backyard Field Day: Set up a simple obstacle course, play a game of tag, or have a classic potato sack race.

Cool Off with Swimming: Whether it's a community pool or a local lake, swimming is a fantastic, low-impact, full-body workout that keeps everyone cool on hot days.

Go on a Nature Scavenger Hunt: Head to a nearby park and make a list of things to find (like a specific leaf, a smooth rock, or a piece of moss). It keeps the kids walking and engaged!

💡 Summer Safety Tip: Don't forget to apply sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher), wear hats, and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated while you play!

What is your family's favorite way to stay active during the summer? Let us know in the comments below! 👇
