šŸ§ šŸ’œ Doing good may be good for your brain.

Research suggests that volunteering in late life is associated with better cognitive function.

Volunteer activities, such as supporting educational, religious, health-related or other charitable organizations, provide a way for older adults to be more physically active, increase social interaction and provide cognitive stimulation that may protect the brain.

Confidence grows when care feels empowering rather than limiting.
Caregivers who listen, encourage choice, and celebrate progress help adults with disabilities feel capable and valued. That confidence carries into daily routines, relationships, and community involvement.

The good simply DOES NOT outweigh the bad when it comes to the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act. The bill would cut up to $57 billion in future disability compensation for 1.5 million veterans but provides only $7.9 billion in new VA benefits, just 14%. That’s a terrible deal for disabled veterans!

DAV rejects the idea that Congress must strip benefits from one group of veterans to ā€œpay forā€ new benefits for another. Call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and tell your Representative to vote ā€œNOā€ on H.R. 9237, the Take Care of America's Veterans Act.

VA Video Connect is a VA solution that enables Veterans to virtually meet-up with their VA Augusta healthcare providers, in something called a virtual medical room, using encrypted video to ensure the session is secure and private. It allows Veterans to see and talk to their health care team from anywhere, making VA healthcare more convenient and reducing travel times for Veterans, especially for those in very rural areas with limited access to VA health care facilities.

Interested in using VA Video Connect? Talk with your VA care team to learn more and see if it’s a good fit for your care. And watch this video to learn more: https://youtu.be/YY6lYrIQ5Ys

Family caregivers often carry years of responsibility, often quietly.
Sharing care responsibilities allows parents and guardians to rest, work, and focus on their own health. Support doesn’t replace involvement—it helps families sustain it. Caring for the caregiver protects the entire household.
