Some other folk names for this flower are Kharkady, Graxa, Gumamela, Shoeflower, and Tulipan. Hibiscus is a feminine herb. Her planetary ruler is Venus and her element is Water.
These flowers are brewed into a strong red tea which is consumed for its lust-inducing powers. Hibiscus has also been used in love incenses and sachets. In the tropics, they are placed in wreaths in marriage ceremonies. In the Western Pacific, hibiscus is placed into a wooden bowl filled with water and used as a divination tool.
