SPARC Chiropractic

SPARC Chiropractic We are the top ranked Chiropractic clinic for the towns of Aurora and Brookfield S.P.A.R.C. Chiropractic Philosophy. At S.P.A.R.C. Here at S.P.A.R.C.

Chiropractic, our philosophy is to build a working relationship with patients by educating and coaching them to eliminate and prevent pain, while maximizing the body’s full movement potentials. We strive to empower individuals to take a more active role in the restoration, preservation, and optimization of their own health. We accomplish these goals through our slogan, “MOVEMENT AS MEDICINE”. Toda

y as a result of convenience, people sit far too long at work, home or in their cars, and simply don’t move enough. Inactivity, poor posture, faulty movement patterns, and obesity are major leading causes of pain, dysfunction, and poor health. It is our goal for our patients to understand the connection between pain and poor movement, or the lack of it. By combining chiropractic treatments, functional movement exercises, and healthy eating habits we are able to maximize the body’s potential to heal itself. CHIROPRACTIC
In a world where prescription medications and surgery are too often the first options offered to patients, many are instead seeking “alternative methods” shown to work effectively with minimal to no side effects. Chiropractic uses Chiropractic Manipulation Therapy (CMT), or “the adjustment,” to help assist with our other natural treatment protocols to restore, preserve and optimize patient health. CMT is a natural, safe and cost effective treatment which we fully stand behind. Chiropractic, we take research seriously. We specialize in Evidence-based Practice (EBP), which is at the forefront of the medical research paradigm today. EBP research has quantitatively proven that chiropractic manipulation can:
• benefit the body’s healing response at the cellular level
• decrease pain
• loosen muscles
• increase joint range of motion
• increase blood circulation
• increase nerve conduction throughout the body

FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SCREEN & FUNCTIONAL EXERCISES
Functional movements are defined as everyday movements involved in a person’s daily activities. Leading chiropractic physicians are no longer simply spine or back doctors. They have expanded their expertise to using scientifically proven methods to assess the whole kinetic chain instead of one individual region in order to uncover the root cause of the patient’s pain. This assessment is performed through functional movement screens, a protocol used to target specific faulty movement patterns. Left uncorrected, these faulty movement patterns can reduce the body’s full capability to thrive in activities of daily living and lead to injury or chronic pain. Based on our assessment, we will develop a unique, functional exercise program to address each patient’s needs. MASSAGE
With multiple licensed massage therapists on staff, massage therapy is one of the adjunct treatments we provide to help patients attain wellness and improve their health. Research shows that massage benefits include, but are not limited to: healing injuries, recovery from exercise, and reducing stress, pain, muscle tension, anxiety and headaches. ACUPUNCTURE
Traditionally an eastern medicine treatment, acupuncture is utilized by many western practitioners today. Now backed by numerous amounts of research for it’s effectiveness, acupuncture is used to help heal all sorts of disease and injury, including strains and sprains, back pain, addiction, anxiety, and upper respiratory infections, to name a few. It is said that when one’s chi, or “life force,” is blocked, the result is the manifestation of disease or injury. Acupuncture is used to tap into channels or meridians throughout the body by stimulating specific points that help the natural flow of the chi. Chiropractic we use a blend of eastern and western teachings to help complement our patients’ treatment protocol. NUTRITION COUNSELING
Nutrition is the foundation of optimal healthy living. With so many burdens affecting healthy, clean eating these days, choosing the right foods can be confusing. Here at S.P.A.R.C we believe in educating patients on diet and the healing properties of food so they can make informed decisions for themselves and their families. Through the use of elimination diets and blood work, we uncover vitamin and mineral deficiencies, food sensitivities and allergies, as well as help with weight loss and detox programs. Smoking doesn’t just affect your lungs. It can affect healing, too. 🚬

Research found that smokers who underwent rotator cuff repair surgery had close to double the re-tear rate compared to non-smokers.

There is also growing evidence showing that smoking can negatively impact spinal discs and other tissues over time.

Your muscles, tendons, joints, and discs all rely on healthy blood flow and tissue quality to recover and function properly. 💪

Do you experience shoulder pain when raising your arm overhead? 🤕

This is a very common sign of shoulder impingement - one of the most common causes of shoulder pain.

The good news is that research shows that a 12-week shoulder-strengthening program can help reduce pain and improve function. 💪

But treatment should not just focus on the shoulder itself. The neck and midback can also influence shoulder movement and may contribute to ongoing pain or compensation patterns.

That’s why it’s important to look at the whole movement system when treating shoulder pain.

Low back pain is about more than just your back. 🧠

A large study following more than 140,000 people found that lifestyle factors play a major role in the risk of developing low back pain over time.

Among the biggest contributors were prolonged sitting, poor sleep, smoking, low physical activity, and higher body weight.

On the other hand, healthier lifestyle habits were linked to a lower risk of low back pain. 💪

This is why treatment should go beyond simple stretching or adjustments. Sleep, movement, exercise, stress, and daily habits can all impact how your body feels and functions.

It’s time to get a grip! 💪

A recent study found that individuals with higher grip strength had lower odds of developing hand osteoarthritis over time.

In fact, the group with the strongest grip strength had 54% lower odds of developing symptomatic hand osteoarthritis compared to the weakest group.

The good news? Grip strength is something you can train through resistance exercises, carrying weights, climbing, or using a grip trainer. 🏋️

Strengthening your hands and forearms may help support long-term hand health and function.

Want to reduce your risk of developing low back pain? 😴

Research has found that better sleep habits are associated with lower odds of developing low back pain.

While many factors can contribute to back pain, sleep is one of the most overlooked pieces of the puzzle.

Your body recovers while you sleep. That includes tissue repair, muscle recovery, and the regulation of inflammation and stress levels 💪

Better sleep can support both your spine and your overall health.

Now that the weather is nice, lots of people are back on the golf course. ⛳

That also means we’ve been seeing more golfer’s elbow.

Golfer’s elbow causes pain on the inside of the elbow and is often linked to repetitive gripping and swinging. While strengthening is important, treatment should not stop at the elbow.

A golf swing is a full-body movement. If the hips, spine, or shoulders are not moving well, extra stress can be transferred into the elbow.

That’s why evaluating the whole movement chain matters. 🏌️

If elbow pain has been affecting your game, call now to book an appointment with our clinic!

Still struggling with chronic plantar fasciitis? 👣

Plantar fasciitis is often more than just irritation at the bottom of the foot. Tightness in the calf muscles and surrounding tissues can also contribute.

Stretching and strengthening can help, but a recent review found that combining soft-tissue therapy with exercise led to greater improvements in heel pain, foot function, and ankle mobility than exercise alone.

Feel like your tennis elbow just isn’t getting better? 🎾

What if it’s not actually just tennis elbow?

A recent study found that 44% of patients with persistent tennis elbow symptoms also had radial tunnel syndrome, a condition characterized by irritation of a nerve near the elbow.

This means you could be doing all the “right” exercises, but if a nerve is involved, symptoms may persist.

That’s why getting the right diagnosis matters. 💡

Pain traveling from your neck into your arm can feel scary. 😣

For many people, the first thought is, “Do I need surgery?”

But research found that surgical and non-surgical care showed similar long-term improvements after 12 months. 🙌

That means surgery is not always the only option for neck pain that radiates into the arm.
