When seconds matter, advanced cardiac emergency care can make all the difference.

HCA HealthONE Aurora is the only hospital in Colorado to routinely provide extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or ECPR, in the emergency department for patients who meet specific clinical criteria. This advanced form of cardiac support uses extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, or ECMO, to temporarily do the work of the heart and lungs when traditional CPR is not enough.

That means our community has access to a higher level of emergency cardiac support, right when and where it is needed most.

When Aimee’s health began declining, months of fatigue, swelling, and painful symptoms left her searching for answers. She was eventually diagnosed with systemic sclerosis, a rare autoimmune disease that can harden the skin and damage internal organs.

As her condition progressed, Aimee enrolled in an innovative CAR T-cell therapy study at Colorado Blood Cancer Institute. The treatment journey included chemotherapy, hospitalization, and ongoing care — but today, she says the results have been life-changing.
