🏆 The votes are in! Fox Valley Special Recreation Association has once again been named Best in Kane County for Special Needs Resources in the 2026 Glancer Magazine Reader's Choice Awards!

This recognition is especially meaningful as we celebrate 50 years of recreation, inclusion, and community. Since 1976, we've been committed to empowering people with disabilities through meaningful recreation, and we're honored to see that mission recognized.

🌽 A kernel of happiness on this Tuesday!

Today, Daybreak Adult Program enjoyed fresh-picked sweet corn from Rays 'N Sons Vineyard. Nothing beats a locally grown summer favorite, and it was a delicious way to celebrate the season. Thank you for sharing a taste of summer with us!

♿ Today, July 26, marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Signed into law in 1990, the ADA protects the rights of people with disabilities and has helped create more accessible, inclusive communities across the country.

🌟 Earlier this month, FVSRA was honored to join the City of Aurora, IL, Government as Mayor John Laesch officially proclaimed July as Disability Pride Month. FVSRA was represented by Anna, Sean, and Executive Director Alex Engelhardt, alongside members of the Aurora Advisory Commission on Disabilities, as they accepted the proclamation on behalf of our community.

Today, we celebrate the achievements, talents, and contributions of people with disabilities while reaffirming our commitment to creating opportunities where everyone can connect, grow, and belong. Happy Disability Pride Month, and thank you to the City of Aurora for recognizing the importance of inclusion in our community! 💙

🥎 Earlier this month, FVSRA proudly hosted the ITRS Softball Tournament! With 139 athletes representing five agencies, it was a fantastic day of competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Athletes took the field throughout the day, showcasing their skills, encouraging one another, and enjoying the opportunity to compete alongside peers from across the region.

A special thank you Batavia Park District for generously providing the field space, Brian Rogus and the team at Xcellent Officials for keeping the games running smoothly, and the agencies that joined us for the tournament: Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA) , City of Evanston Special Recreation, Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA), and Gateway Special Recreation Association.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this tournament a success. We look forward to seeing you on the field again next year!
