Twenty-one years ago, my father, Peter G. Daleiden, worked alongside (the late) Father David Engbarth to help facilitate the dedication of the former Daleiden Mortuary building and property at High and Liberty streets in Aurora to the parish community of St. Nicholas Church.
Our family had the honor in 2004 of donating what had served generations of families as the Daleiden “High Street” Mortuary, allowing it to continue its purpose as a place of gathering, care, support, and community through what became the St. Nicholas–Daleiden Center.
Seeing the building continue to serve the community has always meant a great deal to our family. One of our family’s most cherished memories is the beautiful dedication performed by Father David Engbarth, whose kindness, friendship, and devotion to the parish touched so many lives.
Father David’s blessing and the commemorative plaque he presented to our family remain among our most significant possessions.
Our family has served this community for generations, and our connection to St. Nicholas Church has always been rooted in faith, compassion, and caring for families during life’s most difficult moments.
As we reflect on this 21st anniversary, we simply want to express our gratitude for the many friendships and relationships that have been part of this shared history for decades.

With appreciation,
Anastasia Daleiden and the Daleiden Family

On this Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. At Daleiden Mortuary, we recognize the deep meaning of remembrance and reflection, standing with families and our community as we pay tribute to those who gave their lives for our freedoms. May today be a time to remember, reflect, and honor their legacy with gratitude and respect.
