Rest doesn't fix what's actually broken. Pain medication manages the signal, but it doesn't address what's sending it.

At Rose Chiropractic Center, every assessment starts with the same question: what's actually causing this? Not what's hurting, but why. That might mean looking at how you're moving, what's compressing, what's not firing properly, and what's been compensating for years without you realizing it.

Two chiropractors with different specialties means a broader picture, and a plan that fits your body and your life, not a template.

It's Chiro Health Month — come in this month for an honest conversation. We're accepting new patients in Aurora.

Every day patients ask me some version of "How do i keep myself well" or "how do I keep from having problems like XYZ keep happening?"

The answer is twofold:
1. Regular chiropractic care - Most people without significant problems can do really well on one or two visits per MONTH. This is vital to maintaining joint health and mobility.

2. When you are feeling your best, you MUST then go on and build CAPACITY. Many have heard "Use it or Lose it" but usage demands change as job change, retirements happen, etc. You must increase demand in order to avoid the strain, the fall or other stresses your body will experience. That is is where our partners at Tri-FitAurora come in. Amy has the expertise and the times available for both personal training as well as group fitness instruction that meets you where you are at. She challenges you and encourages you with each session. I highly encourage you schedule a tour, visit a class or just give Amy a call and talk about the opportunities. Consistency, Accountability and lack of direction are the reasons most people give. Don't let it be you!

The exercises Dr. Derek sends you home with aren't busy work.

Every prescription targets something specific: a muscle that's not firing, a range of motion that's restricted, a movement pattern that's loading the wrong structure. When done consistently, they reinforce the work done in clinic and build the kind of resilience that makes recovery stick.

The patients who do their home exercises get better faster. They also stay better longer. That's not a coincidence.

Ten minutes a day, done consistently, compounds in ways that an extra visit a week can't replicate. Your body heals between appointments, not just during them.

😴 SLEEP IS PART OF YOUR TRAINING.

Teenagers ages 13–18 need 8–10 hours of sleep regularly. Eight hours is the lower end of that range, not the ceiling.

Enough sleep supports attention, learning, emotional regulation, and overall health. Those things matter in the classroom and in competition.

Athletes: give bedtime a place on your schedule.
Parents: help protect that time.

Start with a consistent bedtime, put the phone away, and leave enough time to actually fall asleep.

Take your recovery as seriously as your reps.

Muscle spasms, inflammation, pain that flares and refuses to settle. EMS won't fix the root cause, but it's a genuinely useful tool in the middle of a flare-up.

Electronic Muscle Stimulation works by delivering small electrical currents to the affected area, interrupting the pain signal, reducing spasm, and giving inflamed tissue a chance to calm down. It's comfortable, non-invasive, and it makes recovery more manageable while the other work gets done.

We often use it alongside adjustments or dry needling as part of a broader care plan. It's not a standalone solution, but combined with the right treatment approach, it helps you feel better faster.

Come see us and we'll put together a plan that actually makes sense for what you're dealing with.

Inflammation gets talked about a lot, but what does it actually mean when it's chronic?

Acute inflammation is your body doing its job, sending resources to heal tissue after injury. Chronic inflammation is different. It's a low-level, ongoing state where the body stays in a kind of perpetual repair mode, driven by diet, stress, sleep disruption, and gut imbalance.

That state raises pain sensitivity, slows healing, and makes it harder to lose weight no matter how carefully you're eating.

The 7 Systems Plan works directly on reducing that chronic inflammatory load. It's why addressing nutrition often helps patients feel better in ways that go beyond the scale.

Pain is a signal, not a diagnosis. The tricky part is knowing when to listen and when to act.

A lot of people wait until something is truly debilitating before they come in. By that point, what started as a manageable issue has often become a longer road back.

It's Pain Awareness Month — a good time to pay attention to what your body has been trying to tell you. These three signs are worth acting on sooner.

If the same injury keeps returning, the original problem probably wasn't fully resolved.

Most recurring pain comes down to one of three things: the underlying cause was never properly identified, the injured structure healed but the movement pattern that caused it didn't change, or the supporting muscles were never properly rehabilitated after the initial injury.

Rest and time can quiet pain. They don't rebuild the structural integrity or movement quality needed to prevent the next episode.

That's what a proper assessment and a home exercise program are for. If something keeps coming back, it's worth finding out why.

Compression is one of the most common reasons back pain keeps coming back.

When the spaces between your vertebrae are under sustained pressure, discs can bulge, nerves can get pinched, and the surrounding muscles work overtime trying to compensate. Lumbar spinal decompression gently reverses that. It creates negative pressure in the disc space, which helps retract bulging disc material and draw nutrients and oxygen back into the tissue so healing can actually happen.

It's not a quick fix, and we won't tell you it is. But for the right person with the right type of lower back pain, it can be a meaningful part of getting better.

Come in for an honest assessment and we'll tell you straight whether it's likely to help.
