“Courage is the solution to despair. Reason provides no answers. We have to choose despite uncertainty. Wisdom is holding two contradictory truths in our mind simultaneously. Hope and despair. Holding this two ideas in our heads is life itself.”

The power of words, of language, is far greater than many people give it credit for. As I prepare for my speaking opportunities in Morocco, I’ve been immersing myself in a few books. I just finished The Power of Words: How to Change Your Brain (and Your Life) Through Conversation.

The power of conversation.

Last week was filled with deeply contradictory emotions. The news offered endless reasons to believe everything is bad, irreversible, feeding a sense of hopelessness. And yet, this book offered something entirely different: joy, imagination, curiosity, and awe; the perfect ingredients for hope and creation.

This opportunity is a dream come true. I couldn’t be prouder. Gracias Gracias Gracias. 💛💛💛

See you soon Morocco!!!

I met Parke Rouse in Cannes this year, and the way he spoke about his film immediately sparked my curiosity. He also shared how Mr. Linklater had been supportive of the project, which made me even more eager to watch it at the first opportunity I could.

That chance came with a screening followed by a Q&A moderated by none other than Richard Linklater himself.

Growing up in Guadalajara, my parents would take me to every film festival they could find from around the world. As a cinephile, I’ve always been curious about works that fall outside my usual cravings of cinema consumption. This film left me both pleasantly surprised and deeply unsettled—in the best way. It challenged me with questions, emotions, and reflections that lingered long after the screening.

The film is inspired by The Wasps by Aristophanes, a biting political and social satire that lampoons the Athenian legal system of the 5th century BCE. That ancient play explored themes of generational conflict, addiction to power, and the blurred line between civic duty and personal compulsion.

Today, our civic responsibilities, civic engagement, and the courage to use our voices have never been more important. Why? Because it is now easier than ever to manipulate, twist, and weaponize them.

We must TALK MORE. We must learn to DISAGREE BETTER. We must shatter our perception boxes. And that only happens when we’re willing to sit in the discomfort of watching, questioning, and staying curious about what lies outside our comfort zone.

Parker, I apologize it took me this long to say it, but—
THANK YOU for inviting me to your special screening at AFS
THANK YOU for making this film.
THANK YOU for giving me new questions to carry forward.

Cannes 2025

To have a healthy brain, according to numerous neuroscientist’s studies, you should:

1.- Sleep
2.- Move
3.- Cultivate a sense of awe

I have no words to express how infinitely grateful I am to be here. I have walked bizillion kilometers, I have slept like a baby and I most definitely have mastered the witnessing of life with awe!

I’ve met humans from all over the world most speak at least two languages and have traveled far to get here physically and metaphorically. The journey that makes humans fall in love with art is beautifully unique as each one of us on the planet.

I’m not sure I will ever have all the words to express how I feel and how much joy I’ve experienced. I know that it is impossible for me to capture the beauty I see around me… but I’m trying.

I want to invite you today to give yourself three minutes (set up a timer) and look at your hands, your fingers, the palm, the nails. Then think about the things underneath the skin, the muscles, tendons, veins, bones and blood. Then think about how much they have changed and grown from when you were born to today. Then think about how much more they will change. Now look up and reset your eyes to look at everything honoring the only constant in life!!!!

CHANGE 💛
