Do you have a picky eater?
If you do, then try to encourage play with non-preferred food. Playing with food shouldn't be a bad thing. In fact, it should be encouraged! Kids who are picky eaters often struggle with tolerating different textures of food. By playing with food, it gives their hands a chance to feel the texture before actually putting it in their mouth. Playing with non-preferred food also give kids another exposure to this food. It often takes at least 10 exposures of a new food before a tactile sensitive child is able to try a bite.
If your child is a picky eater, set aside a time each day where they are able to explore non-preferred food using play-based strategies!
