Calorie counting isn't automatically good or bad. Whether it works for you depends on why you're tracking and how rigid the rules become.
In our latest post, we walk through 7 signs that calorie counting has stopped being useful information and started working against you, from a running mental tally that drives your mood to eating a number instead of eating your actual hunger. We also cover what to shift to instead if tracking has stopped feeling neutral for you.

Stopping a GLP-1 medication? Whatever brought you there, it's a real transition, and appetite, blood sugar, and weight often shift back together once you stop. That's biology, not personal failure.
There's still a lot researchers don't know, especially about muscle. We break down what the studies actually say in our latest post. 👇 https://www.wilfongnutrition.com/blog/stopping-glp-1-medications-austin
We support Austin and Texas clients through every phase of GLP-1 use, with a weight-neutral approach.

Continuous glucose monitors are everywhere right now, but does more data actually mean better health?
For people with diabetes or prediabetes, a CGM can be a real, useful tool. For everyone else, the picture is a lot more nuanced, and for some, watching every glucose spike can start to feel like a test to pass or fail.
New on the blog: what the research actually says about who a CGM helps, how accurate these devices really are, and the psychological side of glucose tracking that doesn't always make it into the marketing. 👇

GLP-1 medications can be a valuable tool, but they can also mask or intensify disordered eating patterns, and there's currently no standard screening for this before a prescription is written. If food feels more rigid or fearful since starting a GLP-1, that's a conversation to have with your care team.

Emotional eating isn't a willpower problem. For a lot of people, it's actually a restriction problem, the more tightly you try to control food, the more it tends to backfire.
We wrote about why this happens and what genuinely helps, without shame or more rules.

Creatine is everywhere in wellness content right now, and so are the claims: stronger muscles, sharper thinking, steadier moods through menopause. Some of that holds up. Some of it doesn't. We went through the actual research, what's solid, what's promising but still early, and what falls apart under a closer look, including why the evidence looks different depending on which women are actually being studied. Ozempic. Wegovy. Mounjaro. Zepbound. If you have PMOS (formerly, and still commonly, known as PCOS), you've probably seen these names everywhere lately, and a lot of the conversation skips straight to weight loss without answering the actual question: what does the research say?
Here's the honest version. GLP-1 medications and PMOS are connected through insulin resistance, and early studies show promise for some metabolic markers. But these medications are not FDA approved to treat PMOS, most research so far is small and short-term, and there's an ongoing trial (RESTORE) working to answer bigger questions about fertility and long-term outcomes.
We break down what the science actually shows, where nutrition fits in whether or not you're on a GLP-1, and why an eating-disorder-informed lens matters for this conversation. Read the full post at the link: https://www.wilfongnutrition.com/blog/pmos-pcos-and-glp-1-medications-austin

Is your gut getting enough fiber? For most adults, the answer is no; average intake is about half of what's recommended.
Fiber feeds the bacteria in your gut, supports steadier blood sugar, and can ease constipation that often comes with GLP-1 medications. It's one of the most under-discussed, evidence-based things you can do for your health, and it has nothing to do with cleanses or "gut resets."
We broke down what the research actually supports, and how to add more fiber without turning it into a project, in our latest blog post
