Only 4% of Latina women in the USA hold a Master’s degree or higher. I am one of them.

I don’t say that to brag, I say that to share my story and why I’m here.

I have been called to this field through my own personal journey. I am half Chicana and half white who navigated the world identifying as Mexican American which caused self-identity, relationship and self-care struggles. Mental health is not a topic discussed in my family and it is believed to keep our problems within the family.

When I realized I struggled with anxiety in my adult life, I didn't see another way and my struggles led me right into therapy. Therapy helped me break free from what no longer served me, helped me make sense of my past and provided me with a way to continue moving forward on a path that felt right for ME.

This path to finding my authentic self-led to learning how to break family norms, toxic cycles, childhood and intergenerational trauma, learning how to set healthy boundaries and engage in self-care that would lead to deep internal healing.

NOW, I'm honored to utilize my personal and professional journey to empower women to heal from childhood and intergenerational trauma by breaking toxic cycles. Specifically helping women with breakup recovery, relationships, inner child healing and mind body connection.

Knowing YOUR trauma is a love language.

This is one of the most frequent questions asked from clients. This question applies to you whether you are single or in a relationship.

Should I talk about my trauma? Am I being too much if I do? Will that convey that I’m broken if he/she knows? Is my trauma baggage?

Trauma is a healthy topic to consider when navigating the single life or in a committed relationship. Knowing the WHY behind your behavior and actions is beneficial and can improve your communication, reactivity, and knowing how to regulate yourself.

Should you talk about trauma? Talking about trauma is a vulnerable topic and can be considered if you feel SAFE and have TRUST with someone IF or WHEN you feel READY. Here are the most common reasons & mistakes when talking about trauma.

âś…Talking about trauma so you can learn how to support your partner when triggered
âś…Talking about trauma with a professional or turning inward so you are aware of your own triggers and how to manage them
âś…Developing a language and narrative around your trauma so you can NAME it to TAME it (the best you can)
âś…Understand WHY things are feeling intense for you and what causes these intense emotions/reactions
âś…It can help you become less reactive and more engaging in the process, conversation or moment
âś…It helps you learn your needs around your triggers and how to best take of yourself/respond when something comes up for you or your partner

Common mistakes:

🚫Using your partners trauma against them
🚫Not knowing your trauma can cause unhealthy bonds and connections with someone
🚫Not understanding it can cause codependent behaviors
🚫Not talking about it with a professional or turning inward can cause you to repeat toxic cycles, behaviors or patterns
🚫Not understanding it can cause harmful reactions towards you, a partner, or someone you love
🚫No awareness around trauma can cause breakups, ending of relationships and painful moments with loved ones

The KEY in talking about trauma is your INTENTION around sharing, WHAT you are sharing, HOW much you are sharing and WHY you are sharing.
