🛵 YOUR SCOOTER WON’T MOVE… NOW WHAT?

Before assuming something major is wrong, there are a few simple things worth checking.

If your mobility scooter suddenly won’t drive, start here:

🔑 Is the key fully turned on?
Sounds obvious, but it happens!

🔋 Does the battery gauge show a charge?
Low or depleted batteries are one of the first things to rule out.

🔌 Is the charger still plugged into the scooter?
Many scooters are designed so they will not drive while connected to the charger.

⚙️ Is the scooter in DRIVE mode?
If the freewheel lever has been moved into neutral/freewheel, the motor is disengaged and the scooter may power on without driving.

💡 Are any lights flashing on the console?
Those flashes may actually be a diagnostic code that can help identify the problem.

🛑 Did the scooter recently shut down after sitting still?
Some models have a power-saving or sleep mode and simply need to be restarted.

If those quick checks don't solve it, don't start taking things apart! That's when it's a good idea to have it properly diagnosed.

But one of the most important things is much simpler:

Does the chair actually fit YOU?

A properly sized lift chair can make a big difference in comfort and support. Before choosing one, pay attention to:

📏 Seat Height — Your feet should comfortably reach the floor when seated.

↔️ Seat Depth — Too deep and your legs may not sit comfortably. Too shallow and you may not get enough support.

🔋 Want to Help Your Mobility Scooter or Power Chair Batteries Last Longer?

Proper charging can make a big difference in battery life, driving range, and reliability.

Here are a few important habits to follow:

✅ New batteries or a new mobility device
Before regular use, give the batteries a full initial charge.

⏱️ Charge time:
Minimum: 4 hours
Maximum: 12 hours

✅ Daily use
Watch your battery gauge. Once the green indicator lights have been depleted, it’s time to recharge.

✅ Light use
If you use your scooter or power chair less than about 1 hour or 1 mile per day, you may not need to charge after every use.

If the green battery indicators have not been depleted, charging once every 3 days to once per week may be enough.

❄️ Winter storage
If your mobility device will not be used for an extended period:

• Disconnect or remove the batteries
• Store them in a dry, room-temperature area
• Around 75°F or warmer is ideal
• Properly disconnected batteries may maintain their charge for up to approximately 3 months

⚠️ Losing driving range or power?

The batteries may not always be the problem. Motor or electric brake issues can create drag and cause batteries to drain faster.

Have your unit checked if you notice:

🔻 Reduced range
🔻 Loss of power
🔻 Charging faults
🔻 Batteries that won’t hold a charge

Your charger should also be checked for proper output. A typical 24V charger should measure approximately 25.9–27.2 volts when tested properly.
