Can we talk about the pantry at 8pm? 🙈

Maybe you’re like me. All day long you’re on it, not even thinking about food. Then the house gets quiet and suddenly you’re eating crackers you don’t even like... mmm hmmm 😊

Nothing is wrong with you! Your stress hormones carried you through the whole day, and in the evening they naturally come down. When they do, your body reaches for the quickest comfort she knows... and food is quick!

That’s not a willpower problem, y’all. It’s your body asking for some love after a whole day of you loving on everyone else 💚

Try this tonight... before you open that pantry, grab a cozy blanket and a warm mug of tea. Take one slow breath and ask, “What do I really need right now?” Your body will tell you if you let her!

I share more simple ways to calm those evening cravings every week in my letters, Body, My Love, along with tips and free recipes. Your link to join is in the first comment! 💛

Who knew??? Laughing is good for your metabolism! 😂🙌

Mmm hmmm, it's true sista! When you laugh with your people, hug someone you love, or just let yourself feel good for a minute, your body makes oxytocin… your feel-safe hormone. It calms cortisol down, and then your blood sugar and insulin get to relax too. Your body works SO much better when she feels safe!

Joy isn't fluff y'all… it's chemistry! 🤩

So go find the person who gets your real belly laugh out of you (you know the one 😂) and notice how your shoulders drop. That's your body saying thank you!

Less fighting, more joy. That's the UNdiet Method™ way ☮️💚

Now tag your belly laugh person in the comments and tell them thank you for being good medicine! 👇💌

Rooting for you big time, all the love, Laurie 😊

Happy Monday y'all! 🌞

Wanna know what I say to myself before my feet even hit the floor? Mmm hmmm… this right here. I am loved, I am happy, healthy and whole. I've got this. I am crushing it.

And listen, I don't say it because every single day feels like that. I say it because our brain believes whatever we tell her the most. Thirty years inside health and medicine and I can tell you, the women who feel good at 50 and 60 and beyond are not the ones with perfect weeks. They're the ones who decided who they were BEFORE the week got a vote.

That's the whole secret sista. Decision by decision. It feels SO good to feel good. 😊

Your Monday homework: say it out loud, right now, even if it feels a lil' silly. Then come tell me in the comments which line landed the hardest. I read every one.

And hang around… I've got some news cooking that I am SO excited to share with you soon. 🔥🙏

Rooting for you big time, all the love, Laurie

Oh lawdy y'all... I laughed way too hard at this one 😂😂😂😂

Anyone else out here making healthy eating WAY more complicated than it needs to be?? Mmm hmmm, I've been there. Fancy recipes, 14 ingredients, a food processor I have to dig out of the cabinet and then wash 3 parts of. Meanwhile my body just wants real food, on a plate, before I get hangry.

Simple wins. Every single time. A rotisserie chicken, some pre-chopped veggies, a good dressing and boom, dinner. Not a dice in sight!!!

So let's help each other out. What's YOUR go-to shortcut for having healthy food ready to grab when life gets loud? Drop it in this week's finds and tips post in the group and let's build a list we can all steal from!!

Much love,
Laurie 💛

ARE YOU HUNGRY??? STOP IT! LOL... look here for help and share your ideas please ❤️ Better together!! 👯♀️👯♀️👯♀️

Do you know that feeling? "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse."

Yesterday, 4pm, me, standing in the pantry, eating crackers straight out of the box. I teach this stuff for a living and I still did it. So no judgment, not wrong, just awareness, right?

Because it was never willpower. It's physiology. When you let yourself get THAT hungry, your body isn't sabotaging you. She's protecting you.

So the fix is not "try harder." The fix is being prepared, so she never has to make that emergency call.

Six things that keep me out of the cracker box:

1. Real food within arm's reach. Boiled eggs, a handful of nuts, cut-up veggies and fruit. 🥕🥚🍌 If I'm out all day they come with me in a little insulated bag. Future me is always grateful.

2. Prep the veggies the day I buy them. Washed, peeled, chopped, front of the fridge at eye level. When the "I need to eat NOW" moment hits, the easy choice and the nourishing choice are the same choice.

3. Plan loosely. Not a spreadsheet. Two dinners and a couple of snacks for the week. Those ingredients usually turn into three or four other meals on their own.

4. Shop from a list built off that plan. Keeps me on track and keeps my wallet happy.

5. Don't shop hungry. WE KNOW THIS lol... but really. Saying it out loud for the woman who, like me, needed the reminder this week. (Note to self.)

6. Batch cook when you can. Double the recipe, portion it out, freeze it. Tuesday night you walks in the door and goes, oh thank goodness.

Yes, it takes a little time up front. But consistency over perfection. Every one of these is a way of telling your body, I've got you. And when she feels safe, she stops screaming for the horse.

There are a hundred more prep tricks out there and I want yours. Drop your favorite in the comments so we can all steal it. 👇

I thought I could do it alone. I was wrong.

I did what most of us do. Kept my head down, followed the plan, tried harder. I was a nurse, for heaven's sake. I had all the information. What I did not have was one woman who could look me in the eye and say, I've been where you are, and I know the way through.

So I white-knuckled it. And my body, bless her, just kept holding on. Not because she was broken. Because she was scared, and nobody had told her it was safe to let go.

The thing that finally shifted it was not a new plan. It was a room full of women who got it, and a guide who had already walked the road. The first time someone said to me, "it's not willpower, it's physiology," I actually cried. Something in me exhaled, and my body followed.

Thirty years in health and hundreds of women later, this is still the pattern I watch play out. The women who thrive are not the most disciplined ones. They're the most supported ones. Your body is always listening, and she settles the second she knows she's safe. Safe is a whole lot easier to find when someone's holding the other end of the rope.

Have you ever tried to heal something completely on your own and wondered why it felt so heavy? Right? That was never a you problem.

Healing was never meant to be a solo sport. We rise together.

If you want a little of that support landing in your inbox every week, my weekly letters are where I share the real talk, simple tips, free recipes, and the things I only say to my inner circle. The link is in the first comment.

Nobody told me I was allowed to be upside down at this age.

So I checked. Turns out I am.

That's me in the photo, feet to the ceiling in a CrossFit gym, puffer jacket and all, because it was freezing and I was not going to wait for perfect conditions to play.

Here's what I've seen with hundreds of women after 40. Somewhere along the way we got handed a script. You slow down. You settle. You get careful with your body instead of curious about it. And we read that script so many times we thought it was biology.

It's not biology. It's propaganda.

Your body is listening to everything you ask of her. Ask her to be small and careful, and she learns small and careful. Ask her to play, to lift, to try the silly thing against the wall, and she goes, oh, we're doing this now? And she rises to meet you. Cell by cell, that is how vitality actually gets built. From a body that finally feels safe enough to say yes.

That headstand is me remembering I get a vote in how this season goes.

So tell me, what's one thing you've done lately that surprised you? Big or tiny, I want it in the comments. I'll go first, mine's pinned below.

I used to think food was a test I kept failing.

Calories, macros, good foods, bad foods, and a running tally in my head that never once made me healthier.

Then I stand in front of a market stall like this one, and something in me goes quiet. Look at those tomatoes. The carrots. The greens still wearing their leaves. Nothing here has an ingredient list, because everything here IS the ingredient.

Here's what I know now. Food was never meant to be a set of rules. It's a relationship. A conversation with your body. And she is always listening.

So I don't hear the old diet voice anymore. I ask better questions. What feels nourishing? What feels grounding? What feels alive?

Because healing didn't happen when I restricted more. It happened when I finally learned to listen.

Tell me in the comments, gorgeous, what's one food that makes your body whisper thank you? I'll go first: a tomato that actually tastes like a tomato. 🍅

And if this kind of conversation feels like home, my weekly letters go deeper every single week. Link to join is in the comments below. 💌

If you checked more than one of these… your body isn't broken. It's in survival mode.

And here's what nobody handed you: you cannot out-willpower survival mode. You can only call it off.

Go through all four, because these "flaws" you've been blaming yourself for are actually one single message from a body doing its job under bad conditions.

The fix starts smaller than you think. Steady fuel first thing. Morning light. Meals without negotiation. Signals of safety, repeated until your body believes you.

Because a body that feels safe doesn't hold on. It responds. It releases. It comes back to life. 🤍

If you want the deeper version, I write one honest letter a week on exactly this. Why your body stopped responding, and how to bring her back. No fads, no noise.

Some days self-care looks like green juice and journaling. And some days it looks like a nap, getting my hair did, or just taking a freaking break.

For years I thought taking care of myself meant being serious. Disciplined. On it all the time. Like rest had to be earned and joy was something I'd get to later, once everything else was handled.

The older I get, the more I realize self-care is just anything that makes you feel more like you.

Sometimes that is lifting heavy. Sometimes it is saying no. Sometimes it is a quiet night alone. And sometimes, like today, it is sitting in a salon chair bleaching the roots because my inner goddess said let's freshen this up. 🙌

You get to decide what caring for yourself looks like, and it does not have to be deep or pretty or worthy of a post. It just has to support the woman you are becoming.

So if you have been feeling stretched thin and overdue for a moment that is only yours, this is your reminder. Pick the thing that lights you up, even if it is small or a little ridiculous. Your body feels your joy. It always has.

Okay, your turn. What is your most unserious form of self-care? The thing that does not look healthy on paper but absolutely is for you. Tell me in the comments, I want the real answer, not the green juice one. 💛
