This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice continues to shape the freedoms we live with every day.

At the Texas New Mexico Hospice & Palliative Care Organization, we are also reminded of the importance of caring for those who served — with dignity, compassion, and support at every stage of life.

Through our VIP Program (Veterans Initiative Partnership), we are working to strengthen education, collaboration, and resources for those serving veterans in hospice and palliative care.

Our member, Hospice of the Big Country, is continuing a beautiful tradition with their annual Butterfly Release, a special event that brings the community together to remember, reflect, and celebrate lives that continue to leave an impact.

Moments like these remind us that hospice care extends far beyond the bedside. It’s about compassion, connection, and supporting families through every stage of the journey.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this week in Lubbock for the TNMHPO West Texas Hospice & Palliative Care Conference and Exploring Veterans in Hospice event. We are grateful to our attendees, speakers, sponsors, partners, and hosts who helped make these two days of education, collaboration, and connection such a success.

From meaningful discussions on veteran-centered care and bereavement support to sessions on compliance, communication, ethics in marketing, emergency room transitions, and leading effective IDT meetings, the event reflected the dedication hospice and palliative care professionals bring to patients and families across West Texas every day.
