Sometimes an injury changes the way you climb, and that can open the door to something new.

With my elbow injury limiting how hard I could pull, I started focusing on a skill I had been overlooking: HEEL HOOKS. 🧗

At first, heel hooks felt unfamiliar and challenging. But with practice, they can become another tool to help you climb with more technique, control, and confidence.

What climbing skill have you been putting off that could change the way you climb? Tag a climber who should try working on their heel hooks!

Jake’s climbing injury wasn’t just about pain. 👀

While working with Jake, we looked beyond the painful area and watched how he actually moved on the wall. That revealed small movement patterns that were affecting his efficiency and contributing to his pain.

By improving his pulling mechanics and shoulder blade control during lock-offs, Jake could work on climbing more efficiently instead of simply pushing through the pain.

What if the key to your climbing injury isn’t just treating where it hurts, but understanding how you move?

Tag a climber who needs to see Jake’s story. 🧗‍♂️

What if the thing you were told to avoid… is actually part of how you rebuild?

For this climber, climbing became rehab. Up meant concentric loading. Down meant eccentric loading. And the milestone? A serious forearm pump without the elbow pain.

Not a miracle. Not overnight. Just the body adapting to the right kind of stress.

Have we been taught to stop too soon?

What if your body knows how to heal more than you think? 👀 MFR (Myofascial Release) invites us to slow down, listen, and become more aware of what the body is telling us. Sometimes, when we stop forcing movement and give the body time and space, something unexpected happens. The body begins to move on its own. That natural movement, or unwinding, can be part of the healing and rehab process. Maybe we’ve been taught to push through discomfort when what our bodies really need is more awareness, patience, and listening. Are we listening to our bodies enough, or have we become too focused on telling them what to do?

What if the system taught you to train harder... instead of training smarter?

Most rehab programs focus on making muscles stronger.
The best ones train your proprioceptors—the sensors that tell your brain how your body moves.

Your body isn't just powered by strength—it's guided by awareness. And if your recovery doesn't retrain those signals, you're only rebuilding half the system.

Maybe we've been measuring progress the wrong way all along.

🔥 Rest Isn't Always the Answer 🔥

If you're dealing with climber's elbow (medial epicondylitis), you might think the best thing to do is stop climbing and rest. But when it comes to tendon injuries, complete rest often isn't what helps you recover.

As leading tendon researcher Jill Cook says: **"Tendons don't heal by rest. They adapt to load."**

The key is applying the right amount of load to stimulate healing, encourage collagen production, and help the tendon regain its strength. I've seen climbers take 6+ weeks off only to find that their pain is still there when they return.

Recovery isn't about doing nothing—it's about doing the right things.
