Parent of a 4.5 year old was in need of a Spanish speaking Orofacial Myologist for pre and post frenectomy care.

Before Therapy:
-unable to elevate tongue
-unable to move tongue side-to-side
-jaw misalignment
-low and forward tongue posture
-no dissociation of oral structures

After 5 sessions:
-elevating tongue to spot
-achieved side-to-side tongue movement
-improved jaw alignment
-improved facial and overall body symmetry
-compensations decreased
* continuing to work on oral rest posture

A fun activity created for the season to target many language goals. My main objective for this activity was to create a puppet to target oral motor skills.

The turkey was my “oral motor buddy” that took turns with my clients using red jaw blocks to promote jaw stability for speech clarity.

Exposure can do wonders.

Embedding a variety of experiences with food in our everyday routine is a great way to expose our little ones to a variety of food items.

Before curbside pickup was invented, my now 10-year old loved grabbing the veggies and fruits (pictured above) while we went grocery shopping. It was a fun and enjoyable experience for the both of us.

My oldest daughter is now an adventurous eater and loves trying new foods, just like my husband and I do.

It’s not always that easy and it’s not just one thing that we can do. It’s always very individualized and there are many factors to consider.
It does take modeling, consistency, and what I am calling making a “good mess.”
