One of our patients thought his discomfort after a filling birthday dinner was just indigestion. But, as months went by it only got worse.

Much to his surprise, his discomfort turned out to be an ascending aortic aneurysm.

Because he listened to his body and sought care quickly, he was able to get a life-saving diagnosis and treatment with Dr. Kerendi and the CTVS team. Soon, he got back to walks with his dog, hikes in the hills and everyday moments with his family.

Point of the story? If something doesn’t feel right, don’t wait.

đź’™ A medical milestone in Austin!

CTVS surgeons, like Dr. Faraz Kerenedi, at Heart Hospital of Austin were among the first in the nation to use a newly approved valve replacement system to treat severe mitral annular calcification — offering new hope to patients who were previously considered too high-risk for open-heart surgery.

“This is really exciting that we now have alternative technology that we can address those issues,” said Dr. Faraz Kerendi, Surgical Director of the Heart Valve Clinic.

This marks a great step forward for cardiac care here in Central Texas: less invasive, more effective, and giving patients new hope where options were limited. Thanks to everyone involved -our physicians, care teams and partners - for making this possible.
